LED lights

Hi guys,

Any of you installed decorative LED lights in your ride? what i meant are those for cosmetic purposes; flood lights, door handle lights, air con vent lights, door welcome lights etc..

so will there be any sort of errors if I were to install such LED lights? since these lights are tapping on the vehicle's light source.. I know for ordinary cars, this will not be an issue. however, BMW does have this error code feature, which may be a potential problem.

Need to seek your advice here!

Hi, just i better declare first: i did not put any cosmetic LED lights on my ride...

BUT ... if you intend to put in those extra lights, technically definitely possible. Check your fuse box, there should be at least about 3 or 4 free/available taps (depending on variants) with various current draw (there should be some 7.5A and 15A available, though I'm not so sure if there are 30A, but for lighting, i guess you'd need only the 7.5A taps.

If you stick closely to the current draw for each of the free/available taps, you should be safely able to install anything without any error, and remember to properly WATERPROOF/SEAL your open/exposed connections (one of the weakest link in many DIY ppl, including yours faithfully :oooops: ) ....

or alternatively juz spend a little and let the pros do it. (but dun assume dat all 'known' installer can do the job. preferably call our forum's sponsors juz for ur peace of mind...)

most of the ICE guys will be able to do this quite easily :)

just probably need some 'persuasion' if you are not familiar with them, or pull a regular along, or get something fm them directly, and 'package' your own installation in. give-n-take usually works with most ppl.

haha.. dats why i first declare dat i dun install any myself.. hehe
but then TS is not asking my opinion, juz the tech part, so i juz reply

but den again, if tastefully done, e.g. open door den lights up the road where you're stepping... might be quite useful... did it for wifey's ride.

end of the day, to each his own 8)
