LAN Setting: Privacy Control

Users Awaiting Email Confirmation
I am on Windows 7. Internet cable via company ethernet LAN.

What do I need to set to ensure that other staff cannot access my computer via the LAN?

Re: LAN Setting: Privacy Control

Thanks.

Where do I go (setting) to disable file sharing?

Password? As in Windows log in?

1. Something like network connections, then there's something like setting the connection as "public" , "home" , etc . And there's other file sharing settings in there somewhere (use the search bar at the top right in Windows)

2. Yep

Are you joined to your company's Domain? Domain / network administrator may have access anyway.

Precisely. I am using my personal notebook and I want to block my network administrator from accessing my data.

Install a firewall software on the machine and ban everything ....

Can recommend an appropriate Firewall? Don't mind paying a proper one.

Why do you need to be on the domain? For file retrieval on their server? And to connect to internet via lan?

Else just make another account.

Firewall won't work, is for intrusion attacks or what not, your admin have rights to somewhat view unless like what I suggested earlier

Re: LAN Setting: Privacy Control

Just use Windows firewall to block file sharing and printer sharing.

Or just don't use the LAN lah... ;P

Re: LAN Setting: Privacy Control

well if you remain offline, it will work :p

Re: LAN Setting: Privacy Control

If you control the FW.....just put the first rule deny all incoming (tcp udp icmp etc). Then ok already. network admin cannot do anything. even if the machine already joined the domain.
