The most basic thing that every car owner should do maximise the car's lifespan is to check your oil.
We can't stress this enough. We've seen so many cars come in our workshop with cars that haven't had an oil change is a very long time.
What happens when you don't change your oil? It'll get thinner and won't be able to hold oil pressure anymore. The most common issue is that the parts in your engine will become too hot. The oil fails to lubricate the engine and the whole engine falls apart. Massive oil leaks occur, rubber seals become hard and brittle which can break and everything becomes a mess.
So what happens when damages occur? We wish that mechanics have a magic can to pour it into the engine and magically repair the damaged components.
You're just gonna have to bite the bullet and replace the damaged components one by one.
Its all about PREVENTIVE maintenance folks. We recommend changing the oil every 7000-8000km for conventional oil and 10,000km for synthetic oil.
There is no single thing you can do to increase the life of your engine than to do regular oil changes for your car.
