Re: Khaw defends NParks’ purchase of $2,200 foldable bicycle

Yup. I have given up long ago.
On top of raining during the parade, I'm hoping for Cat 1.

Re: Khaw defends NParks’ purchase of $2,200 foldable bicycle

it seems im the only person that has no issue with this purchase and im not even a leisure cyclist associated with any shops or NParks....

wouldnt we want the best tool(s) for ourselves to work effectively and efficiently?

Re: Khaw defends NParks’ purchase of $2,200 foldable bicycle

Hi Joydivision,

Of course government also must be effective and efficient.

But we are talking about tax payers' money here. Accountability. Effectiveness and efficiency does not mean spending $$ without following the proper bidding procedure or exercising a certain level of due care.

Ok no allegations here, if any one not happy please talk to my lawyer. no names mentioned.

well, im also a taxpayer n im assuming all procedures have been proper....unless there was foulplay, shouldnt we be fair to afford the best tools for our parks? we demand the best but can only afford the cheapest?

The issue is not about NParks paying top dollar out of care and concern for its staff. Questions are being raised about who really benefitted from their so-called tender process. And look at how those questions - valid ones given that public funds are involved - are being deflected.

Wake up and smell the coffee, Singaporeans.

Was the tender process fair? There was only one bidder. Do you award the bid to 1 bidder?

unless all around SG or JB also nobody can supply the same exact spec bike ( be it AD or PI ) then no choice that's why 1 bidder.........otherwise others can bid but it is not what NParks required also useless.........( i think so )...............

For those not wanting to shift through the wall-of-text. Summarised for convenience. Do your own fact checking:

1. Bid for tender was closed within 3 working days after 1 bidder

2. Awarded to a company called "Bikehop" whose main line of business is not even selling bicycles. Not authorised dealer of Brompton. Could have gotten 5 years warranty from authorised distro

3. Prior relationships between NParks Director and Bikehop before tender process

And tender was during the CNY period.

Also, no checks on Bikeshop's paid up capital and address.

Re: Khaw defends NParks’ purchase of $2,200 foldable bicycle

Honest mistake. Please move on.....

Neither honest nor a mistake :nehnehhh:

Re: Khaw defends NParks’ purchase of $2,200 foldable bicycle

Imagine TP wants to get 5 x 320i as petrol car.
They open bidding process for 3 days then close process with one bid from a PI and PML wasn't even aware of it. Worse, pay PML $5k more can get 3 years warranty with swee swee 19" rims.
(ok la not say AD warranty sure good :)

if the tender was indeed flawed, the purchase (cheap or expensive) should be questioned.
