Re: keeping rim shiny

Hi, you have to polish the lip now and then, just cleaning is not enough.

What polish to use I am not sure though. Hope someone else can answer what they use

cheers

Re: keeping rim shiny

Either (1) Turtlewax Metal Polish (green bottle) or (2) McGuire's Metal Polish for wheels.

Bro, hving fine scratches on chorme lip thru washing is inevitable de.. how careful sure have. Only can minimise.

when i wash my rims, i will first flush the rims intensively with plenty of water to get rid of brakedust, sand particles or whatsoever on the spokes/lip. Followed by using any car shampoo along with mirofibre cloth to clean it.. make sure dun use force.. than blow dry with makita blower.. if no blower, tap dry it.

Yes, Turtlewax metal polish is highly recommended. Tried many products and Turtle is BEST!! Super Easy to apply and gives u that oily kim kim goot goot look. Can get rid of fine scratches/ rust and stubborn stains that has already eats into the lip. make sure use microfiber cloth and again dun use force cos the wax itself is damn smooth and easy to apply. can get from Stamford Lokyang.

when u free pop by my house, i wash and polish for u. Stamford lokyang near my house only.

thats because the stickiest stain is not on the lip...its on the backseat! :lol2:

Re: keeping rim shiny

Waxing vigourously and repeatedly should remove some of black dots that eats into the coners of rims as well as the minor scratches.
Use sealent to protect once rim shine and smooth..

Re: keeping rim shiny

its best that you clay your wheels before doing any polishing or sealant

Re: keeping rim shiny

That must be miracle fluid made from holy water if it worked on Sams rims.

Re: keeping rim shiny

KNN just use my method lah aka lazy-beng-style.

Weekend - spray SONAX rim cleaner. Wait 5 mins. Strong garden hose jet of water to rinse off. After that use diluted Meguiar car wash to wipe and dry. The lip usually suffers the most abuse n dirt. I then use meguiar metal polish to pilsh off

Weekday - too shack to wash. Every night just use moist MF cloth and Meguair ultimate detailer, or their car wash diluted or anything dilute enough n doesnt leave behind stains. Wipe off dirt on dish lip. tada>>>koon lioa >>> zzzzzz.

My chao neighbour still say I like pimp my ride. NNB.

Re: keeping rim shiny

this my method

drive to servo, drive into car wash, sit inside, drive out, get out, light smoke, watch them chamois, put smoke out, give them 10 bucks, drive off. Then later complain to myself rims still dirty.

Re: keeping rim shiny

i washed my stock rims only 1 time and decided no new rims or expensive rims for me. it's simply ridiculous how much brake dust shit it can produce.

you guys damn hard core and on the ball man. salute!

Re: keeping rim shiny

Hi folks,

I used Meguiar's NXT Generation All Metal Polysh for the ugly brake dust on my E90 rims. It works but got to rub real hard, until my finger hurts. Autosol works better though. However, Autosol seems to leave a more dull finish than Meguiar. So I used a combination. Autosol to remove the real stubborn stains, then use Meguiar over the same area to get the smooth and shiny polished look and feel (the kim kim kut kut like what some of you guys mentioned).

My 2 cents and experience with rim polishing . ;-)

No, no Autosol or Brasso !!!

They are abrasive........... You will not see watch dealers or jewellery collectors use Autosol or Brasso for the same reason !!!
