Check your air con gas pressure. Just bring it to any workshop or petrol kiosk. Topping up the gas is very cheap.

Tumpang your thread...I oso got intermittent problem with aircon - started when I was gunning it on NS highway couple months back. Water dripping on the dead pedal...

Then when I got back to S'pore, sometimes hot air spews out where the dead pedal is...my poor left foot - rained on then scorched... :uhhh:

Wonder if I need to get the aircon repaired ? :huhhuh:

I have hot air spewing on my left foot but no drips.

The dripping is probably due to condensation from your air con compressor and no, its not normal for it to be dripping. you should check it you to see how bad the problem really is.

Heard about the dripping from at least 2 valvey owners already. Especially when going long distance along NS highway. :(

But the hot air thingy never heard from anyone before u.

Do send your ride in and keep us posted on what the issue might be.

Cheers!

Ok, same problem. Mine already solved.
1. Check your blower temp sensor (forgot the term in BMW)
2. Final Stage Resistor

These two things i've changed. Problem solved.

About the Water dripping on the dead pedal, try to adjust ur temp during driving long distance and aircond blower. (it will solve) Don't always put to (A) circulation, let outside air in when driving on highway - adjust frequent.

sometimes hot air spews out where the dead pedal is, YES,,, it will when you put blower to AUTO. its normal... same of our batch is Euro Spec. (mine is)

Try it out !

For air con that is not cold, just go and top up the coolent. At most $20 from petrol stations that carry this service.

For dripping water, it's basically condensation coming out from the footwell-aircon vent. 2 reasons why condensation will occur. 1 is that the interior of the car is too humid, and as calvin said, just drop the recirculating mode and let some outside air in to moderate the humidity level inside the car. These water are basically water respirated from your body. On NSH drives, you are in your car for an extended period of time, like 2hr or more, so the chances of humidity increasing is higher than in short singapore city driving. 2nd reason is that the temp is set too cold. The vent in the footwell itself got too cold, and any water vapour will condense on a cold surface and give you a footwash.

as for hot air coming from the footwell, it's basically due to your temp settings. For BMW aircon, a heater is included into the aircon cooler to regulate your desired temperature, at settings 22deg and above. So if you set your aircon temp to 22 and above, somehow only the heated part of the air comes out from the footwell vent, but a nice mixture of hot and cold air comes out from your dash vents. to prevent hot footwell air just drop your temp to 21 or 21.5. simple.

Help Help Racebred and all who advise me!

Went down to a mechanic yesterday to top up gas as advised by bros here. Was told by the mechanic something wrong with my cooling fan (or cooling coil) and therefore aircon not cold.... he later do a check with some kind of torch (sorry not technical person)...and told me that my compressor should also change because it is going to kaput anytime. I almost fainted at the thought of spending $$$$ So I told him to top up gas and let me decide after he gave me a quotation...

After that gas top-up, I now notice that drivers side aircon is not cold whereas passenger side is cold. Very strange leh. Even the blower vent above the mid - left vent cold and right vent not cold. Is it the temperature gauge something wrong ?

Ok.. so shall I seek a second opinion or go to PML for a check ? In that case, has any bros change their aircon cooling coil and compressor on E39 and how much is the damage ?

Thanks

Go BVO, ask them to check the fault code to see where is the damage. Very easy to notice Compressor damage, u will hear some noise when it cut in. anyway, it not so easy damage. ( I was told to change compressor too, but lucky i didn't )

i suggest you bring your car into PML and ask them for an assessment on the air con problem. be sure to instruct the CSA that you are only here for a quote, and repair commencement should only be ordered by you. see for yourself what exactly is wrong with your hardware first.

Thanks guys...for the very simple FOC solution. 8) everything's running A-ok now.
