He just hates the styling and the interior but seems to give it high marks for the drive and engine.

Sounded real biased and cynical, but if one read closely and infer on the "constructive" sides of his comments on exteriors and interior styling - perhaps he is predicting a facelift of the coupe real soon? A shorter shelf life, say 2 years, for this model?

Dun flame me, but the designers at BMW is capable of doing that.

His colleague, Tiff Needel usually has nice things to say about the Beemers, esp for the e39 & e60 M5 & the e46 M3 ;-)

Tiff is his colleague? Thot he is from the Fifth Gear.

Anyway, JC hates M3's SMG but he loves the M3 CSL as a complete driver car package.

Sorta. More like ex-

They were both in Top Gear ages ago.

Suspect there was a tiff (hee pun intended) and then one season, Jeremy left suddenly and had his own show, while the rest of the team (including VBH and Tiff) ran Top Gear.

Then, almost as suddenly, Jeremy came back to helm Top Gear, while most of the TG team joined 4Cars (on rival station Channel 4), before going to Fifth Gear (on Channel 5)
