Re: Is Singapore my home, daddy? - How would you react?

A quarter of a century ago, when I left these shores to go dip myself in the ocean-salt water in Angmoland faraway, I thought too, that WOW, I'll be in the company of really smart people!

It took 2 weeks for me to realize that I was actually smarter than most of them in the cohort - and at the end of the day, it was another Asian that pipped me to the University Gold Medal. Still, of the 6 First Classes they awarded, 5 of us were of Asian origins - one from Sri Lanka (the bastard that beat me), 1 from Singapore, 2 from Malaysia, and another was an Angmoland born Chinese. Only a solitary talk big, bluff plenty but know very little white assed Angmo was in that group.

But now, when I look around me, all I see are second and third tier Angmos that couldn't hold on to a job to save their sorry lives back home, coming here and talking even bigger, bluffing even hionger and knowing even less, all over the shop.

Most of the Angmos in my estate are merely tenants, but the way they talk, walk and act, you'd think they owned the fcuking place. Sometimes, I can't help but feel that's a sorry reflection of the state of affairs in Singapore.

I read your post twice and I still could not see how's that considered to be making "change from inside something something if not happy whiners."

But since you are driving Lambo, I have to LIKE your post.

Please, I am a direct and frank person.

You don't see me joining some conti car committee just to eat free bee hoon or drive for free and write favourable reviews for authorised agent or get free F1 tickets to boast on Facebook.

That's not making changes from inside.

Heng i did not join our commitee just to eat free bee hoon since there's no free bee hoon and i was already writing before joining the commitee and only started out writing about our own local members' cars with just specs, pictures and some imagination, before graduating on to freelance writing gigs which happily introduced me to the local agents (and local motoring journalists) with which i have made friends with and built rapport with over the past 5-6 years or so with very limited seat time when i first started.

But as you can imagine, over time, this has placed me in the very fortunate position to drive more of their local press cars on occasion for reviews and a dose of photo-taking, and also sometimes allows me to be invited to events like car launches and F1 as part of the media! Both of which, though undertaken on my free time, i am very very thankful for.

Luckily you are a direct and frank person. For a moment i thought you were talking about me here (as well as in this thread), cos i did post a picture of my single F1 ticket (and not tickets - phew) on my facebook page! But i know you are a direct person, so will never indirectly shoot someone like that!

* Jasonmaxima, i didn't really soft ban you, play play only. And i really don't remember snubbing you at last year's Alliance Meet, if i did, i apologise. *

Sibey loh-soh explanations, hopefully not directed to me alone. Not sure what drives you to clarify to the forum too.

I am sure you did not eat free bee hoon and I am sure you have earned all your freebies with merits. As you can read, the cited examples are metaphorically written, lest you wanna apply the relevance to yourself.

I am as frank as direct as I can be. Had the editor case be valid and linked to you, I will definitely report you - but it wasn't referring to you. Why so sensitive? You kenna lim kopi?

What matter is conscience and whether you could sleep well at night.

No need for a full page clarification when the arrows are not even pointed at you.
