it is just as safe and just as unsafe as other towns/cities around the world, depends on one's alertness and behaviour on and off the road as well.
some local drivers might be more aggressive cos of their bad vibes/misunderstandings about Singapore/Singaporeans...but thats about it...Muar is predominantly Chinese...many of whom have relatives working in JB/Singapore.
They have a lot nicer cars here than we do especially in big cities.
Anyway, what they said & always lock your door the moment you sit into your car. Don't leave your door open & adjust yourself. I once did that & a guy came running over in his track shoes & gave us a shock cos we didn't hear him. Well, he asked for the nearest payment booth.
He could've been a robber. And always be vigilant as you approach your car.
I stay in KL half my time & u don't want to leave chances like placing your hp or wallet on the table while you meal. Snatch thefts are common & so is burglary. Just don't stick out like a sore thumb in the crowd.
