Increased battery discharge when stationary

Hi Fellow members

I’ve recently gotten a 2012 328i f30 sedan.

Got a battery issue, not sure if you guys have any experience with it. When starting up the car, there is an error message saying “battery discharged when stationary” and “increased battery discharge when stationary”. Then some days it will show”battery charge very Low. Start engine.”

If so, would you kindly advise what it means and how severe the problem is?

Hi there, i recently got this error message for my 2012 116i. Thought it was a battery issue or wiring. But upon further inspection at the workshop it revealed that my alternator coil had burnt out due to a turbo oil leak issue.

I had the warning for 2 Days before the battery was finally flat and could not start the car. I would suggest you take the car to a workshop immediately to rectify. You could take a look at the alternator and check the battery voltage first.

Thanks for your reply. As per your advice I sent it to the workshop and it really due to the alternator problem. It wasnt charging.

So I changed the alternator and opted to change the battery and now it's working fine.
