Re: ice

i suggest go with a good set of separates for the front speakers (jbl, focals, dls, infinity) then its up to you if you want two subs or not. but i'd go for 12" subs. one would do and its enough to give you a good deep bass

and put the sub at the trunk :) a basic "abc" box would be good for starters

given that set up, a 4 channel amp is enough. 2 channels for the the front separates and the remaining two will be bridged for the single 12" sub

if you want 2 subs, a 6 channel amp would be needed. 2 for separates, and 2 bridged for 1 sub and the remaining 2 for the other sub

hope you follow

if you have extra cash, you can buy coaxials speakers for the rear to improve SQ further. it has better quality obviously over the stock ones - so there is still a big improvement

hope i got to help

Sam,

Before you ask what or which you should buy or go for, I think you should figure out what your budget is...

ICE upgrades can cost anything from a coupla hundred bucks, eg. simply hooking up an iPod Adapter... or can also cost several tens of thousands of dollars...

There's no right or wrong in how much you want to spend, but you would have to work this out first, before going anywhere else. It is also within budgets, that you can then determine which brands and models of the different components you should go for, because sometimes, the better model of a cheaper brand, may actually wind up better than the lesser model of some more expensive ones...

Your other considerations would be component-matching, and of course, who the installer is, because unlike a home-stereo set up, the installer of ICE would actually be more than half the equationof whether or not your ICE will eventually sound 'good'... and even 'good' is relative...

cheers...

Re: ice

Oh.. and so far as subwoofers (bass or low-frequency sounds) are concerned, its all about 'real-estate'...

Every subwoofer, depending on size and manufacturer, will have an optimum size box, for optimum performance... everything else outside of this optimum size, is then dependent on how much real estate you're willing to sacrifice.. the 2 most 'cost-effective' ways (least space robbing), is either by 'free-air' or by a Tubed Sub... but in both cases, you will of course not get the best sounding bass...
