I thought I had seen it all...

As many here know, I recently put up my car for sale in sgcarmart and in this forum. Well, forum-ise my experience has been good although pricing-wise many could not meet or come close..but nevermind.. My rant here is about potential buyers from sgcarmart.

Typically many of them are "upgraders" from various makes and models and have little or no knowledge about BMWs. Many low ball till my car machiam it was a useless piece of metal and should just be left by the roadside to rot if it breaks down. One said my Brembo was fake. Another said his Lancer could outlast my E60 and gave me a nice mini seminar about Lancer engines and Mitsubishi's history..simi lan?

Anyway, I will relate my experience with 2 potential buyers.

Buyer 1: We agreed on the price and he went ahead to apply for the loan. His loan was rejected cos his pay low and banks strangely rejected outright instead of offering a lower sum. He called me and asked whether he can take "personal loan" from me.. huh? I said cannot lah blah blah and he asked whether I can help him appeal to the banks...huh? x 2. I refused to answer his calls and SMSes. Mind you, this fella drives a Volvo S40. Maybe his father's one.

Buyer 2: This fella solid. Same thing, we agreed on the price (less some of the mods as he didn't need them) and asked whether I can pay his transfer fee for him. How can? So he said can lump it into the loan and I said try lor. He wanted to take 100% loan. He then asked me after loan approved, can just drive off ahh? I said not so simple..and ran thru with him the process:-

a. Apply loan
b. Loan approved, then need to source auto insurance (about $1,400)
c. Pay transfer fee ($2100)
d. He wanted to retain his existing car number and put on to the E60, so I said tats another $1300
e. Can loan's 1st instalment. ($1600)

Total estimated about $7k (b+c+d+e) for his driving history n occupation (some salesman)

He asked me whether can lump all these into the loan application. HUH?

Well, he tried and obviously loan quantum was too high and the bank rejected but offered him about 70% of the sale price. He SMSed me and asked whether I can sell to him at the bank's approved loan quantum. DOUBLE HUH?!

There are wierdos in Singapore....

Anyway, I think I will probably keep my car for awhile more...abit boh sim n heartpain to sell...hurhur

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Shameless trysts.......

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

There are many such people, all chut pattern for one reason, to try and lowball and get a really cheap price. I encountered a lot of such people while trying to sell my watches in the watch forum.

Such is the world and you met really weird people. :errrrrrr:

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Smaller credit companies can provide loans at higher interest for such cases...

I have a feeling many of these idiots are car dealers. They try to act direct owners to push the price down then resell. When i tried to sell my 335 and I had a hint of car dealerism, I hung the phone up. Its quite easy actually. Just listen to the background. :laughlik:

One potential buyer had moaning sounds in the background. Impulse buy

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Bank outright reject normally is due to bad rating from credit bureau.

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Some of these people in public will act steady because of "bai tao" but on a one-to-one basis, will take out cut-out coupons to redeem 10 cents.

Last time I know one forumer will ask everybody - especially gals - in a pub "what you wanna drink, I order...." and disappeared to the toilet JUST BEFORE the bill arrived.

Champion cheapo.

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Poor MW.
I had horrible experience when i tried selling my first car direct. In the end I gave up and it went to dealer. Of course price lower but I got my cashier order on the day dealer collected car from my house, with no question asked.
Second time I just go straight to dealer.

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Yah agree, hassle free but I do hate dealing with them! Even with direct buyers, please insist on a Cashier's Order.

I told one dealer "Sorry the car is sold." His reply was "When can view huh?" I hung up the phone immediately and ignore his subsequent calls.

What size was that? 1:18?

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

I'll just let the dealer settle, at least I know I will get my money hassle-free. Some direct buyers simply cannot make it yet want to act rich and drive luxury car. Pui!

Re: I thought I had seen it all...

Any stock-no-bodykit E60 owner here wans to swop my full M5 kit with the stock kit plus top-up from u? This would mean u need to swop with me front and rear bumpers, side skirts AND the two front fenders....
