hmm... if i think wat ur talking bout... then use the interior cleaner.. it works like a tyre blackner... that should work out pretty fine i guess.. unless it's deep.. then i say take the cover out.. sand down and jus spray lightly back .. sure can one ..

Its the black cover that's just above the gear lever which contains the cigar ligther.

that's a easy place to get scratched.... I've got numerous scratches there.... in the end, i just lay a layer of those "sticky" rubber and place my phone there. problem solved! Out of sight, out of mind!

hi Beem,

Is your rubberised plastic peeling? And is your car still under warranty? If yes, you could try bringing down to PML and ask them to replace it FOC. Went to change mine. Now it's good as new.

They will check that you do not use any chemicals other than the BMW interior cleaner. Cos other chemicals will cause the rubberised part to blister and peel, which in such cases warranty void. Hand cream will also cause this problem. So be careful.

Other than that they will change. As told by the CSA at PML.

Hope this helps

Cheers,
Adrian

Its no more under warranty.....can't change...:(

Re: I scratched my rubberised plastic covers

just spray some amourall over it and rub it. Should disappear even when the amourall wears out and the surface changes back to matt black. If you are a perfectionist, then just go to the parts department and buy a new one....the whole casing! Should not cost you more than a tank of gas.

FUture note: Do not put your cell phone on it while driving. If you have to, open the cover. On the other hand, its a good place for your mechanic to put tools, screws, nuts, bolts and what have you - while working on your car's interior! So, either cover it up before service or tell him to be careful.
