He has on older software, ask him about this, next time he brings his car in for service they will upgrade to version 12.X (late july onwards) and viola.. he will have it!

My 730i don't have this problem ( yet ). You are correct, even though there are supposed to be 400 over functions that can be control by iDrive, only a few are available in our local cars. The communications, BMW assist, Help menus are all not utilised or have only rudimentary functions. If I'm not wrong, the e60 does not even have Navigation to play with ( correct me if I'm wrong ).
So what is BMW / PML so worried about the iDrive causing too much distraction?
Wonder if PML can deactivate that irritating function / message.

However, besides this irritation, are there any other changes (positive or negative ) that you can feel after the software upgrade?

Maybe thats why... will ask him to do it then see what happens... thanks.
