I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Was travelling home after supper last night at about 1am along the ECP...

was travelling in the middle lane just relaxing and chit chatting....

as I reached the part of the ECP with the "flower pots".... nearing the xilin exit....

WAIT!!

I saw a TP bike with the guy in white concealed in the bushes holding a camera!

It was so dark nobody would have spotted him but his reflective reb/blue on the bike created just that little bit of fluorescence which caught the corner of my eye!

Aiming at the distance targeting the 1st lane....

Is this not entrapment!?!?!?!?!

Its like sniper in action man! Damn champion...

Yes SM. Write in I remember your killer letter in the ST last time.

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Just live with it.........There's nothing we can do to change all these.

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

i wanted to... but i didnt have my camera with me... i was so tempted to get home, grab my lenses, and head back to the ECP.... but too tired liao...

I was quite shocked to spot the bike!!!

He was so well concealed I missed him at first glance... only something in the back of my mind told me... "eh.... what was that?"... and I looked again.

BINGO!

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Jack - but the TP commissioner did come out in the open (after the huge furore on hidden traps) that the TP aim was to enforce safety, and not bait unsuspecting drivers. If I recall correctly, it even went as far as to say signs/notices would be put up to warn drivers of speed cameras or checks...

I need to dig up that article...

anyone still has it?

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

CORRECT!!!!!.... but again .. if u were to look on ur left right bro .. on the ECP .. i think the TP was in the "Speed Camera Zone" something like that, EVEN so i rem reading the Article where they said that , at nights the TP's are to use the green reflective vests so that we can see them at night and in the day they have to wear white. I say write bro.. see what they say or they deny ...

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

xilin is the one that leads to Tampines, Simpang Bedok and Changi Business Park

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Just now saw a TP at one of the overhead bridges from Upper Thomson Road toward SIn Ming side.. err.. not sure whether i braked too late... exceed by at least 30km/h... sianzz.....

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Dun flame me, but what's wrong for the police to catch offenders or deter crimes via entrapment or ambush? This is not baiting - the police did not instigate for a higher speed on our rides......

Now, if you think about it, they use it all the time. Stakeout for sex offenders/flashers, drug deals...... I thought we have seen it all?

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Kenn, I agree it's not entrapment per say... but I found it just PLAIN WRONG that the authorities can say 1 thing and do another (wif rgds to their stand of not hiding in ambush), and this... coming from the TP head herself in a published letter!

Understand they have a job to do... but come on, they can't expect to pull wool over our eyes and just expect us to meekly accept right? Somebody has got to break out of the matrix!

*end of rant*

PS: No futsal tdy ar?

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

waa..sometimes i wonder..wat can we do to the TPs? its like they are making the road user suffering..i wonder if we can do something the same to them.heh

Yep. That's where the problem lies for all the authorities. Figurehead makes the diplomatic promises, the middle management was given the mandate to roll the exercise, and the lower levels will execute the quota management system whichever way it is deemed fit.......

Press 1 to complain TP ambush, press 2 to report TP speeding, press 3 to speak to a TP PR officer...... our office hours are Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day......

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

Axl - I agree with you... that was my point... i mean their public statement was to calm a lot of anger and unhappiness... so no that people have forgotten (or they think), they shouldnt practice double standards....

kenn - agree and partially disagree... oh well..

cheers all!

Not that ulu lah - my regular route back too - and I take the last exit from ECP before airport :)

Another well-known ambush spot is on the opposite side - ECP to city, after Tanah Merah exit -

The slip road from Car park H to the ECP has flower pots - sometimes the TP WRX/Volvo is parked in plain sight on the chevron but sometimes the car is hidden behind that row of foliage with camera aimed the cars' rear plates as they zoom past.

If you are speeding on the first lane, it can often be too late to slow down in time as slower traffic on the left blocks them too.

Re: I caught a TP hiding!!!!

sometimes the TP does do things right too. I see them at the expressway rd shoulders, in clear view from as far away as possible, lights shining, enforcing speed limits. In their presence, nobody is encouraged to speed, and safety levels are somewhat increased.
