Send your car to PML and they'll stick some kind of tape along the window frame to get rid of the noise. But you'll have to tell tel to be careful cos they may sometimes leave some scratch marks there. It happened to me before.Newredbug said:

I still have those tapes that I used to DIY with a group of owners facing similar problems.

Anywaz i was at BVO today and bought a can of silicon Gel and Sprayed onto window mounting and rubber like mad and the rattling noise is now GONE....

25 bucks which i reckon can last for at least 10 good sprays (4 doors each time)
translating to just $2.5 every 4 mths (*assuming it lasts for 4 mths).........BTW the peace and quietness u get is priceless
OT/ i was just wondering if i used my windows less, opened my doors less, the gel will last longer??????? kekekekkeeekkke
OOOOTTTTT/ the trick to is not to wipe the door mountings when washing ur car or letting rainwater splash onto the mountings by not opening the doors in the rain or even NOT driving in the rain..... hahahahahaha
BTW silverbeam, the gel is BODY FLEX (made in germany)..... if u happen to find something similar in hardware shops .... do let us know

Been looking around, but never found anything close at hardware stores. This is specialised stuff. Doubt any retailers would carry it. Might have to check with the distributor if they retail it.
I have tried using tape on my E46. It worked just as good just that it is stuck over our door frame, and obstructs polishing.

I send my car for the same complaint a couple of months ago, and what the service personnel did was spray the silicon stuff. It did work & is still working for the moment. However, I am not certain of the silicon spray which PML had used. Try enquiring it last week, but the parts person seems clueless. Hmmm......

It comes on when over humps and uneven road. Sort of a short tapping sound. Invisible to many but irritates me esp when ICE is OFF.

Do not use Rain-X on ur windscreen or for that matter any substance except water. The more polished it is, the more squeak u get. Dont think this silicon stuff is meant for windscreen, you dont want grease on yr glass. : )
