How to keep engine running when you are not in car?

I noticed that the car engine will switch off after a while after i leave the car even though i leave the key in the drive seat. But this does not happen when i remain seated in car. Does anyone know what is the trigger?

Lock the car while engine running and bring key wìth you.

Hmmm... Then how does one keep aircon running when there are other passengers in the car? Esp if in back seat where they cannot unlock the door

It is an offense to keep engine running when car is stationary.

Hmmm... Then how does one keep aircon running when there are other passengers in the car? Esp if in back seat where they cannot unlock the door

Mine won't auto shutdown regardless of wat combination. The door lever double action will open, dashboard oso got a central lock.

Strange, when i am in driver seat waiting for someone, i have never encountered that it switches off. However when I leave the car for like 5 mins and my wife and baby are in the back seat while the key is still in car, engine and air con goes off after a few mins. Which does not really seem like a very smart feature to me....
