How to get rid of stain on leather seat?

Hi fellow forumers,

I was trying to clean and get rid of the stain on the lower section of my beige leather driver seat where my lower back contacts with but to no avail The grooming guy at PML Kg. Arang told me this was caused by us guys wearing leather belts and the belts rubbed and stained/worn the respective area affected. They were also unable to clean it. I even thought of re-uphostering it.

Anyone had similar experience and had found solutions out there?

get dwn to DIY stores, there is this product that can get rid of stains on leathers.. its like a lipstick.. cant remember the name.

the groomer once told me, don't try too hard to remove certain stain. you may end up spoil the leather surface. try using warm cloth. put on gloves, cos I mean real warm. leave it on the stain surface and try rubbing it gently. if you've steam gun that would be better.

I got stain like 1st week after I got my car???

Mine is a tanned interior, there's white stain and i use Autogym leather care and it still can't be removed...help!!!!

hi jseah,

you know of those white sponges at daiso. the ones that can clean dirt in porous materials.

my cream beige leather was 'restored' to it's original colors after using it, only sin$2. well with a bit of leather cleaner.

my advise is to test it first on a small area that ppl (you inc.) can't see. and no need to use buffalo strength.

remember to use it damp, then wipe off the dirt and apply leather conditioner.

since most automobile leather seats are coated leather nowadays, the stain should not be too difficult to remove, unless you're talking abt dye transfer or something more serious.

since leather is a delicate material, you should attempt to solve it starting from the gentlest method and then progress to more aggressive solutions.

gentlest to most aggressive:

take woolite (ph neutral detergent for hand washing wool) and dilute with a ratio of 10:1 (water to woolite). use a sponge and gently rub on the spot. As with the general methodology of gentle cleaning, numerous gentle attempts is better than one aggressive attempt.

if that fails, you can use a water-based leather cleaner like leather masters soft cleaner... and then progress to a more aggressive leather cleaner if that fails e.g. leather masters strong cleaner.

if you have dye transfer, then you can use the product as OLL recommended... most leather care manufacturers have a product catered for this scenario. Leather Master's product for this is called "ink away" and it does look like a lipstick.

I would recommend you to bring your car for steam cleaning, friend of mine dropped a packet of Chicken rice sauce on my carpet, and with carpet cleaners and etc, could not get the smell away completely, finally borrowed a steamer from a friend, and it did the job perfectly!

I have the same problem on my beige driver's seat.

Whilst I am using a leather cleaner, it gets worse and then I realized thjat the leather itself seems to have flakes exposing a darker colour underneath, especially when I rub the cloth in one particular direction. Never even thought it could be my trouser belt doing the damage, but now that theory has been raised, I think in my case it could well be true.

Anyhow, no amount of cleaning will help, but the dark patches do disappear once the leather settles down and I stop rubbing it.
