Hiadees, I know the brake pads wear out pretty fast they hard u tend to brake but after 35,000km on my car the brake disc still look fairly thick. How long can they last actually before replacement is needed.

Re: How long can stock Brake Disc last?

it's not quite a function of time...
rather it's more of a function of usage. U drive more, u brake more, ur disc wears out faster.

Maintenance is equally important..eg dont hose off the rotors when they are hot.

But I reckon, disc rotors can easily last beyond 40,000kms

Re: How long can stock Brake Disc last?

Under normal driving conditions, your rotors should last about two brake pad changes.

Re: How long can stock Brake Disc last?

I sorta change the rotors with every 2 brake pad changes. Not expensive for non-supercars.

Re: How long can stock Brake Disc last?

Oh I see, so 2 brake pads change = brake disc change. Will PML change it if car under warranty.

Re: How long can stock Brake Disc last?

for my other luxobarges, under warranty, EVERY brake pad change they changed the discs for me. But maybe that was because of my driving style (but I had no problems with the brakes). Esp Merc, it is not really necessary because the design of the rotors were made to LAST even if you abuse by washing car after tracking. They have internal structures which prevent warping.

with PML, I don't know generally, but the few times I sent a 3 and 6 in for servicing including pad change, nope, they didn't change the discs.

It is not under warranty as it is a wear and tear item.
