Hissing Sound from tweeter

Hi guys,

Is hissing sound from tweeter inevitable, and that the higher the gain, the louder the sound?
Or it is dependent on the quality of the crossover?

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

The hissing sound mostly comes from the source signal...

If there is an aeroplane sound that corresponds to your revs then your system is picking up interference from the drivers side high current cable. The cable runs beside you from the engine bay down the divers side sill to the rear battery.

ask your installers to move the wire locations to cross those high current wires perdendicularly.

The original speakers should have no problems.

Cheers

Source signal?
Meaning the head unit, when I play certain music?

What if the hissing sound is there even if I lower the musice to zero?

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

If you reduce your volume to zero and you still hear hissing noises from your tweeters then it is either coming from your amps and active crossovers or being picked up from the hi-low converter.

Cheers

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

Hissing from tweeter Usually is gain on amplifier for tweeter set too high. Otherwise for BMW, might due to your low quality hi lo converter if u have one..

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

Yes...the hissing sound is there when the volume is 0.

I was told hat it was due to the gain. My tweeteer is at -3 now, and then the hissing sound is okay. Setting that higher at 0 makes the hissing too loud for me.

I was also told that a better hi-lo converter would do the trick.

Not sure if I would spend more money on this kind of hi-lo...although the installer was rather kind to let me test the hi-lo first.

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

No point use those cheapo hi lo converter..use a Audio Control LC6 if it really hi-li converter giving the hiss..should be about 400+

Yes LC6 is one of the better aftermarket hi-lo converter which is being used for those intergated Head unit who need the RCA output.

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

I have tried 2 hi-lo converters and the LC6 is much better. The hissing is reduced but not totally eliminated. HG says to replace head unit in order to be HISS free. I am also running the Alpine DSP 701 with my system on the e90. Hope that this helps.

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

If u are still using the DAvid NAvone LOC, it can be adjustable cos at maximum, it converts to almost 12v (or 9v ?) signal, which is at least a couple times higher than a good headunit.

H701 tends to have hissing problem but should not be the problem u are describing.

Re: Hissing Sound from tweeter

My installer did not change my headunit the other time..he just add a LC6 and the problem solved.
