highest mileage ever accured on your exisint BMW

i am sure most of us have heard from friends, colleagues or maybe detractors that BMW cars seem to have alot of issues, esp when the mileage gets higher?

i am starting to believe that school of thought. doesnt matter if its built quality or the cars aren't climatised but it just does happen....

but just want to know who here has an existing car (with only routine, normal servicing and not any major overhauls done) which has seen high miles yet no major issues? if so, how high is your mileage and any pertaining problems and what model?

my last car seen inside of 27,000km when it was 3.5 yrs old. but air con compressor kaput, side mirror folding gearing went bonkers and i-drive hung on me a couple of times

considering if i should try another marque

I think you drive the car way too little.
So it gets angry and spoil here spoil there.

Take it for a longer drive, whack it a little  , ride it hard a little.
Who knows, these 'problems' may just mysteriously 'rectified' :lol2:

So sorry to hear that Josh...it was running fine in the first 2 yrs....hence my impression of BMW is that their reliability is excellent.

no prob hoks, it happens sometime

had the air con compressor replaced under warranty
and the side mirror assembly was replaced at PML's cost too. but had to raise my voice my little as i went in abt a week or 2 after the warranty expired

was offered an interesting unit but with what i deemed to be high miles, so thinking hard now

My colleague who has an e90 320i, 1 year old with 8000 mileage, just told me that his radiator and engine oil is leaking. I am shocked it happened to such a new car.
I will agree with you that BMW does have many more problems as compared to Jap cars.

i am starting to believe that school of thought. Me too. doesnt matter if its built quality or the cars aren't climatised but it just does happen....I also cannot understand why....

Oh dear, that's bad. Makes me think twice about getting e90/e92....

considering if i should try another marque I have the same thought too. Was thinking of Mark X :p

hmmmm.....

maybe the theory that the more driven the car is, problems are less likely may hold true?

no one else with any exp to share?

c3p0, iirc, i read within the forum that e93's seat belt extension arms breaks quite abit? might wanna keep that in mind....

well. if it helps any. here's some more mileage perspective.

I'm driving a FL E46.
Mileage is almost 120,000.

Yep :)
Engine still purring smoothly... revs to redline w/o hesitation.
Only minor issues, like oil seals hardening. mostly fixed...
The rest is pretty much wear n tear.
Nothing too much to worry for a 6 y.o. car...
Did spend a fair bit replacing the ABS Controller.

Feels very solid, tank like still.
Compared to some other Jap marques, with less mileage.

Had another E46 in the house previously. 9 y.o.
Mileage was about more than 200,000
when we let it go... yes, no kid.

There'll always be acclimatisation issues, for Euro marques.
But seems like the E90s haven't quite fixed some issues.
QC for later makes - might've taken a slight dip even.

Bro, is yours a 6-potter? 6pots has less problem compared to the 318 which is a 4potter.
