"High drain battery" message after install camera

Hi all,

I just install an itronics view cam with backup power recently and this message will appear on iDrive every time after parking for a while. I know the cam will continue to take power from battery during parking mode, but will it drain everything or stop somewhere to prevent draining everything?Anyone experience this? And anyway to resolve?

Thanks in advance

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

Some cameras come with a module that cuts off power to the camera once the battery voltage drops below a certain point (eg 11.8V). Not sure if your itronics comes with a power module like that but doesn't hurt to ask the shop which installed it.

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

Depends on how the vendor taps the power for the battery .........

Agree. Vendor screwed up tapping wrong fuse when I had mine installed. Had to google for where to tap and printed it to show stupid vendor where to tap so he can reinstall in again. F@@king idiots. Do a google on your car model and should find instructions where to tap to.

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

Observed that mechs typically turn everything off and look for live fuses for the power needed for overnight parking.

Actually - reading the fuse map would be better like how Juzme described it.

TS - Whatever it is - don't bypass the IBS or tap from certain fuses - Seen a ride gone really wrong in the morning as a results - believe it or not from CELs to misfires ....

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

For my case, warnings of battery drain will appear if I leave my car ~12 hours without using the car. Warnings will go off after I drive ard....off the engine n restart the car again. I find it still ok.

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

I have this warning every morning , so when people asking me what is that, i will tell, it was welcome tone.

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

Thanks guys!

So just wanted to confirm it is a normal case for our BMW iDrive, not because of any wrong installation method or tapping from wrong power. Correct?

Re: "High drain battery" message after install camera

I have the same issue with TS..vendor told me it's normal for BM. Would also like to hear opinions

Should name the shop of that bloody fool, so no one fall into the same situation again.
Really a pain in the ass when you can't start the car.....

Check posts #4 & #5 - fuses, how power is tapped etc.

And run an energy diagnosis with a WS......

Run what diagnosis la, WS already say bm is like this.

Isn't it better to seek alternative opinion.

And pls, forum dun have the capability to do remote diagnosis.
Kindly drive to other ws and diagnosis rather than guess here.
