Hidden menu in instrument panel

Put the car ignition switch to ON. Press the trip meter reset button next to the dials on the instrument panel for 5 sec. A menu list will come up on the tachometer face. There are about 19 submenus seen, but don't know how to proceed. Any ideas?

i think he's talking about the 7er..

it happens on my car too. you can navigate it. i've done it before, but i can't remember how. basically it displays idrive info on your speedos. but the font is too small la.

Re: Hidden menu in instrument panel

Sorry.Yes, it's the E65. I don't know ( I might be wrong ), but I heard that E39 also have such a feature.
I am interested because one of the submenus is 'service reset'. As most of us change engine oil ( in non PML workshops that may not have the OBD service reset tool ) more regularly then the 25K or so km that BMW recommends, I was thinking of it is possible to reset the service interval indicator via this method rather then through the OBD port.
