Hi guys/gals,

Never drove a bmw before but have always liked the E46.

Thinking of getting one and price does seem reasonable and would really appreciate if anyone can advise me on my contemplation to get this car.

Anyway, been reading abit on this forum and I'm glad to know that the people here are really friendly.

If price is a concern, you might want to look at the e36

Welcome....E46 is good value and a solid car. Like most BMs, they have their liitle weaknesses. If you do a search, you should find lots of previous threads about common problems that crop up at certain age and mileage.

Best to insist on looking at service records to ensure the car has been well maintained and getting the car inspected by BM specialist workshops (like J4C and BVO) prior to purchase.

Well, small stuffs that require replacement are part and parcel of 2nd hand cars I guess. Like you guys said I will ask for the records if I am getting the car.

I'm more worried about the NZ emission control impact on exporting the car so I heard the price dropped alot. So how much does it affect the resale of the car?

Actually, I am also thinking of getting a new E60 520, now it's a matter of splurging or be contented with a E46 which I am also happy with.

Any comments?
