Dear all,

greeting to everyone. i am a new bmw owner, having just bought a used car recently.
The car has a old number place Sb series and on monday i made my trip to Jb for some makan etc.

Jam was generally quite bad even on a monday morning... and after some effort ,i cleared the malaysian customs

upon clearing while driving into the main street. i was greeted by the sight of BIG berhenti( stop)sign by the road and a huge gang of traffic police maning the road and gesturing every singapore vehicle to stop and be screened.

As i do not know the history of my car, i was abit worried but i told myself, i got the transfer papers with me, if anything were to go wrong, i can safely prove that i am the new owner.....

however, after screening thru my car plate, i was being gestured to the GUILTY corner and was ordered to surrender my passport.......

After which we (about 6 singapore car ) were being convoyed to the police headquaters ( instead of turning right to the city, then left 1st building),,,

upon reaching and parking my car , i was shock , in a way relief to see so many singaporeans in the station ....

after filling in my car plate , the officer ( prob a clerk) printed my list of offences dated 2001 with 5 offences on record.,... which has a total of about RM 600.....

I was laughing away and tried to explain that i am the new owner etc etc.....

The so called officer directed me to the 4th flr...in which i was greeted by a stern looking supposedly SENIOR officer ( with 3 crabs on his shoulder)

I patiently put my case across , the MF officer calmly acknowledge my explanation that
1) offenses commited in 2001, but i am only the owner on oct 2009
2) The car is a 2005 make as stated in my tranfers papers from LTA but offences is 2001....

BUT he INSISTED that i am still the OWNER NOW of this vehicle and hence RESPONSIBLE....

he gave me 3 ways

1) called the owner/dealer now to come and pay for u......
2) you can go now but leave your car behind and settle after you found the responsible party
3) pay the fine ( claim back yourself from responsible party) and fxxx off.....

I stick to my point but he insisted that i can go for option 2 .........

At that point , i see no point arguing anymore and ask him how to settle....the fine and he told me he can give a discount ....off the amt ( wtf)

i make my way down to see the 1st officer ( clerk) and told him again on my explaination....
and this time, he smile at me and says...i tell you what, u settle one or two summons, i give u back ur passport and u can go.....and i will cancel all the summon (i doubt he will do it)

at the end, i was lucky to get out of the suitation by paying the so called summon of RM100...

Sorry for all the rumblings but i just want to highlight my case to those who own used car with the previous number plate to really prepare for this if you frequent jb....

no ways around it but just got to be prepare....

Malaysia boleh....!!!! my foot....

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

rm100 is cheap...if you know how to speak to em...everything else will be struck off...

granted not confidence inspiring...but hey...if their police officers...other authorities are better...where will Singapore be?

if money can solve ur problems, count urself lucky.
i would gladly pay the rm100 and get out of there asap.

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

and i would strongly believe that your RM100 goes into the pocket and not settle the fine

a. you may still end up going to the station if they have operation again because i don't think they will bother cleaning the database
b. get yourself a new plate .... kekeke
c. don't drive to msia anymore ....

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

I always give them RM 20 - RM 50 only... if they tell me not enough . I will tell them i not first time here lei.. somemore before u i kana another police officer already ...no money liao.. this move never fail me....

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

RM50 should be enough. But, nowadays many ask for RM100 while they say ... big operation leh (means so little how to split ?)

but, i have a "trick"

there was a time i nego with him until he give up and quickly let me go because there are 2 to 3 more cars behind (all sg plate) and he was smiling ohh la la business coming .... kekeke

Re: hi everyone, digusting experience to share @ malaysia

Am i right to say every SG BMW will 100% pulled aside at their operation stops ? Anyone here got heng heng being waved by them to move on ?
