Thanks y.not.
Used to be 133k for the 323 and 141k for the 325, both sedan....:screwedu:
They must have thrown in some additional gimmicks and increase the price.

Re: Hey Folks

Hi y.not,

usually due to 323i (Same road tax as 325i) so most buyer will opt for a 325i instead (more power) as for the new 520i it is a 4 potter (4 cyc, 2L) same as the 320i. To me it will definitely be sluggish on the 520i with the given 4 cyc 2L engine.
As compared to the previous 520i (M54 engine, 6 cyc, 2.2L)....so most buyer will go for 525i....

hope this helps.....
remember to mod it

cheers

Hi ac323,

Thnx for your advice. That was what I expected too but changed my mind after the test drive.

I find the 323i has a lag time, I was trying to pickup from a traffic junction but the car doesn't seem to sprint like a 2.5l engine. The latio which was in front has split e 323i by 3-4 cars length when I just felt I have just started moving.

520i has a totally different story. The car was very responsive whether it was at stop or halfway when I decided to floor the pedal. Interior has a better look, leather seats are more comfortable, more electronic gadgets and more legroom at the back as compared to the 323i.

In my opinion, 520i maybe a better choice as it has reasonable power as well as comfort too. I maybe wrong as I have been driving japanese brand for e past 20 years and this is the 1st conti car I will be buying, so I may not be used to it during e test drive.

Any advice will be appreciated as I will be going down to sign on e dotted line during this weekend, many thanks.

Re: Hey Folks

Hi y.not,

oh so you did try the 520i (4 potter) - i thought sure sluggish....156hp and 200nm....moreover the car is much bigger than the 3.....(323i:190hp and 210nm i think)
if that's the case go for the 520i (any time) higher omv as well......

cheers

Hi ac323,

Yup I tried both. I am now reading this forum for the pros & cons of e 520i, most likely I will get this model if there is nothing very bad that folks here has experienced.

Re: Hey Folks

Hi Bro,

I tink you made a gd choice; not because I hv jux book a 520 myself, but because I test drove it twice and the responsiveness really impress me both times at seperate showrooms:lol2:

The interior helps, with new i-drive, build-in bluetooth and sports steering. Of course, how can we forget the M-Kit:yummie:, m-scafplate and doorknob light up:goodup:

But the only big disappointment: 16" rims:ultrasho:

Walao, real anti-climax man.

But of course, it give us reason to do some shopping for some chio 19". If wan more chio, change the exhaust to twin Remus. Should add a few more 'horses'. Need more pickup, install a speed booster. That should be enough, for a start.

Look forward to c u at next miting on the 28th tis mth.

I am Kim, Cheers and have a safe ride.

Re: Hey Folks

Hi Kim,

how are you?

just to update you ....install Velocity better.......

lots of mod to help the engine to rev better man.....
1) re-flash ECU
2) Air-filter
3) Volker Spec plugs
4) Header
5) Exhaust
6) ignition upgrade thingy

cheers

Re: Hey Folks

Hey there AC323,

Its been a while. How r u doing man? I am doing jux fine:wavey:

U r right. But I'll take one step at a time. Will change rim to 19", change exhaust, air filter to K&N, then either install booster or velocity.

The rest I will do the necessary after experiencing the ride for a few mths first.

Will c u at the next mit up?

Catch up with you then if you r going and learn some tips from you.

Meantime, have a great and safe drive.:p

Cheers,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Yah I agree e stock wheels look weird on this medium size saloon, thats y I am thinking of upgrading them to 18" house brand, I will try to ask my SE if she can help to subsidize a little. As for other mods, I guess it is not e right time for me now bcos by signing on e dotted line, it has burn a big hole in my pocket oradi.

Btw wld U mind telling me how much r U paying for e car? I will be going down tomorrow to negotiate e price and be signing e documents straightaway if e price is right.

As for e meeting, I think I wont be joining bcoz my SE said even if I am signing tomorrow, I have to wait for e next batch which will only arrive on e 29th this month. But hopefully I will be able to meet u guys on e next one.

Many thks for your advice, btw my name is Tony.

Re: Hey Folks

Hey Tony,

18" is fine, but go shop around first, instead of jux settling for the PML's offer, which are most likely higher price than outside. Many rims n tyre shops available; compare n contrast first.

Also can get advice from many guys on tis forum which r mostly constructive. Contributors like AC323 gives pretty good advice, and he is more on the engine power n performance type.

BTW, for rims, u can checkout Leong Seng at Paya Ubi. They have some repilca rims veri chio. Price also affordable. But pls also chk with other bros in the forum on replica's quality before deciding.:woottt:

I pay, with overtrade n discount, nett 140K, after they clear my 21K outstanding loan. I trade in my 1.6l Jap car. COE at the time of my purchase is jux below 10K. That's like 1 mth ago. Nothing much can be thrown in by them because most of the stuff is already put on, except for rim n film. Ask for the film, rims trade in at PML is not worth it. Go out n search for better deals.

Don't worry abt not having your car by 28th. I drove my Altis to the previous miting:woottt:. Go down and find out wat you can do to your new baby from all the other owners. Believe me, they r friendlier than they r usually perceived. Come down come down n we can get aquianted, as well as with others.

Cheers, n have a safe ride

Kim

Re: Hey Folks

Kim,

I am currently eyeing a 20in rims, might be able to let go of my original 19in Hamann Anniversary 2 staggered . Few months old with CSC3.

You might want to consider.

Bit itchy for a new look :)
