Hi, looking around for a 2nd hand BMW and set my eyes on a 323 . tested all the stuff and wound down the power windows. All was ok.

But when i tried to bring the driver's window up, i had to hold on to the button? The salesman said that there was no auto function? Or is there something wrong?

Anyone can help shed some light?

if it can auto wind down no reason why it cannot auto wind up. which 2nd hand car deal;er is this?

When engine started or car moving (can't remember which one or is it both), u press once and the window will go up auto all the way.
When engine not started, u need to press and hold.
Something like that. Or it could be the other way round. I can't be bothered to remember which is which anyway. If press once it doesn't move all the way I just press and hold.

Reminds me of the time my regulator was spoilt. Open my window put out my hand to signal, window suddenly close and kiap my arm. Pain siah. At that time I also dun know if I should use my left hand to hold steering or use it to press the window open button. Knn...

Sorry ignore my earlier post, it's got nothing to do with engine on or car moving.
When any door is open, and u want to wind up the window of that door, u have to hold on to the button. If door is close, u only have to press once and window will auto wind up.
For winding down of windows, it's auto in all circumstances.
So I believe when u were trying to wind up the driver's window, the door was opened?
If not, then something long liao ke ke

by the way do you mean E90 323i?

Yo all, thanks for the valuable info. I am looking at E90 323i and i believe the door was opened while i was testing the windows...
