HELP!!! - Top overhaul or engine replacement

Need sifus suggestions & reccommendations,

Last week my bos with his E46 325, year 2004 (same as mine, only 1 month older than mine !!!!...kacauuuuuu) experienced high temp. & like always sent the car to AB Kuantan. First they rectified expansion tank leak. Replacement done. After awhile driving, temp went high again, and again sent to AB Kuantan....they found 5th cylinder got water coming in.

2 suggestion from AB, 1. Engine replacement (32K) 2. Top overhaul (RM?).

I need feed back from sifus, is there will be any performance drop or what so ever side effects if proceed with top overhaul. And of course best reccommendation by BMW is engine replacement. Consider my bos not a rough/fast driver, but alway go for long distance driving...

Wow...now I understood why BMW = Banyak Makan Wang....

Overhauling the cylinder head and replacing head gasket is fine. I doubt the bottom end is damaged. The head maybe slightly warped so needs resurfacing. Not cheap, but far less costly than engine replacement

In fact, you may even get performance gain, as the top end is fresh again.

Just sounds like a blown head gasket. They couldn't tell??

I did not have the clear story, for now that what Ive been told....
I'll personally will go and check the damage and share with you guys..
in mean time just need some opinions/experiences that may help...
