E90 mileage 74K km, 39 mths old.
Tire size 225/45R27
Was on Goodyear ASym2 for 40K KM.
Switched to Michelin PS3 9 days ago, and travelled 700km since.
Both sets of tires from Germany. PS3 manufactured week 19 2014.
Experienced rolling goot-goot-goot noise above 60kmh, like driving through very closely spaced speed strips. Noise gets marginally louder betw 60-100kmh.
Tyre shop says PS3 is quieter than GYAS2 based on customer feedback. And allows exchange to GY if top-up $200.
Asking forum bros/sisters here.
1. Is PS3 quieter than GYA2? (Am skeptical)
2. Tire shop says worn wheel bearings might be suspect. But then no such noise on the GYA2. When do we replace E90 wheel bearings?
3. Tires are balanced and steering runs straight. But shop had mixed up the wheel positions during new tire installation.Wheel alignment last done 1.5yrs or 40K km ago. Shop says wheel alignment will not help reduce the 'noise'. Is this true?
Comments appreciated. Thanks.
Almost decided to suck thumb and pay $200 more to switch back to GYA2.
