Help needed on rotors!

Advice need from gurus here!

Hi all, I'm on stock brake setup currently, looking into better stopping power for my ride. Read about Brembo bbk but I dun track at all so I'm not that willing to spent on the bbk. So read up on older threads that's says change rotor and get better brake pads.

Went to google some brands of rotors and came across the Brembo sports drilled rotors (attached pic) that allows use of stock caliper. Is it possible?? And anyone knows where to get in sg? Cos I called up some of the dealers, they only carry the normal plain ones.

And lastly, any other advice/opinion to get better braking setup would be good! Thanks!!!!!

Hi

Yes it is possible to use such rotors on stock calipers. PM Sent !

Re: Help needed on rotors!

There are economical way to upgrade the brake beside the branded after market set such as Brembo which carry full package set, upsize rotor, upsize multi piston caliper, larger brake pad, price usually in the range of SGD 3000/set(front brake).
I find it rather easy just to change the normal brake rotor with the the drill type that is around SGD 200/pc, while the original piece(solid disc, means no drill) will cost around SGD 125/pc E90 320i. the braking feel will improve arond 10% and better heat dissipation, this is the cheapest option.
The next level is to buy an used kit of let say E90 335i brake caliper which comes with the caliper bracket, the installtion is straight bolt onto 320i, purchase the new bake pad for 335i, purchase the new brake rotor they have original rotor(solid disc) and drill rotor(estimate SGD 200/pc), the braking power will increase by 35%-50%, the cost of used caliper(335i) should only be SGD 700/pair while the disc pad and disc rotor price should be treated separately as replacement part as we cover the distance(brake pad wear around 40,000km while disc rotor should be 60,000-80,000km).

Thanks bro, sorry forgot to mention my ride, e92 335. Find the stock not gripping enough but dun wanna spent that much on a bbk cos I dun track. Still looking for suitable rotors thou, preferably stop tech or Brembo drilled rotors that is direct bolt on to my ride!

Re: Help needed on rotors!

Hi

Just to find out more.

My front disc rotor and pad is due to renew too. So looking for option for rotor. Will maybe try cw porterfield front pad.
So what option of rotor i have for E90 320i if just to change the rotor only? Have drilled rotor? Not going to spend a lot and need to change the caliper.

Thank you.

You can also look for Brembo.

Do take note that if your front combo (disc + pad) is much more effective than rear, it will screw up your default brake bias.

Re: Help needed on rotors!

You can purchase the drill rotor from usual part supplier at SGD 200/pc(estimate), not allowed to advise the shop name on this forum, you can text me for the name on 97895067

Re: Help needed on rotors!

My 2 cents, don't waste money just upgrading rotors & pads. Have done both in previous car and only noticed a slight improvement.

Good and wide tyres play critical role in braking so will assume you have those. To have a jump in performance, you need to increase size of calipers and/or rotors. 335 does have a decent set of brakes so one needs to upgrade brakes to get noticeable improvement, either go up to M3 brakes or Brembo/AP/etc BBK.

Re: Help needed on rotors!

Ok.

Just checked my last record. Changed my front rotor and pad together about 2year back and now have clocked around 35k km.

The front rotor only last me for one pad use only? Remember they are oem/original rotor and pad i replaced.
