Hello from Toronto!

Hi!
Just found out about this website accidentally!
It's great to have a Bimmer club in SGP.

A little history, I was born in Singapore but have lived in Canada for the past 24 years.
Am fortunate enough to be driving an M5 which I could not afford if I was in Singapore!

Are there a lot of real M5s in Singapore?
What is the gas, oops I mean petrol prices like in Singapore now?

One thing I do miss is the fantastic and relatively cheap Singapore food!

Man... that's a sweet car!! Post some pics of your ride man!! Love those SSR GT3 rims!

Cheers,

Re: Hello from Toronto!

Welcome bro. Nice car u have there. There are very very few e39M5s in Singapore. I think less than 5. As for the E60M5s, there are also less than 10 only (for now but I am sure the number will grow given the rave reviews).

Petrol prices are still crazy at slightly more than S$1.60 per litre for premium petrol.

Re: Hello from Toronto!

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum, and nice ride you've got there. I spent 5 years in Toronto/North York, living in the Yonge/Finch area. Missed Queen Street in the summer, Pho Hoa and Highway 7/Bayview restaurants. Hope to catch up with you soon.

Hi Dave,

Welcome to our forums. Are you part of the e46toronto.ca. teutonic.ca or tuningemotion crew in Toronto? Say hi to Stan Mo and gang for me. Man I miss that place. The forks, driving to Niagara-on-the-lake. Where are you at? I use to live at Empress Walk in North York. I heard petrol prices are about CDN$1/L?

Cheers
Jason

Kenn,

The Pho Hoa restaurant at Siglap closed down last year. Haven't had decent vietnamese noodles since.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I need it because it's freezing outside!
Supposed to go down to 0C tonight.
Cannot drive the beast too fast now because I've got the snow tires on right now.
Talk about sloppy handling of the snow tires compared to the summer tires.

BTW, I'm visiting Singapore next week!
Anybody want anything from Toronto?
I would gladly bring the cooler weather LOL!!
I'm arriving on Nov 29 and will miss your monthly meet:(
Anybody want to hook up?

Here are some pics of my car:-

Sam,

Yes, I love the look of the SSR GT3s too!
This shot's for you:-

Kentonna,

I'm actually in Mississauga, since you know the area.
I hate the downtown traffic and parking, so chose to live in the burbs.

One more picture showing a pic of my GPS recording my previously limited top speed.
I have yet to try a run in my delimited beast.

Cheers!

Thanks Jason,
I spend my internet time on M5boards.com, Roadfly.org (whereI found this board!) and Maxbimmer.com.

How long ago did you live here?

I live in Mississauga right by Mississauga Rd and Eglington.

Gas prices are relatively cheap right now.
Just filled up on Sunoco 94 for CAD 95cents per litre.
Regular gas is about CAD 83 cents.

At the peak a couple of months ago during the hurricanes in the US, the gas prices shot up to CAD$1.30 per liter up from 75cents!!

Yes there are alot of very nice driving roads here compared to Singapore.

Re: Hello from Toronto!

Yeah, I know I only went to the forks once before. Use to go tracking at Cayuga, Shannonville and Mosport. Had an awesome time tracking with the teutonic.ca guys. When I was therein 2003 the price was only 70c. How times have changed... LOL!!! I use to drive from North York to Missasauga just to buy Krispy Kreme. Do you go to the Singaporean Restaurant Lion city often? When you drop by in SG be sure to call us we'll show you the real deal. By the way, the beef rendang at Matahari Grill is quite good and authentic

HAHAHAH!! Talk about a small world, I just had dinner an hour ago at Lion City!
Can't wait to sample the real deal in Singapore next week.
Nothing up here can touch the Jalan Sultan Prawn mee soup!
I dream of that all the time here.
I actually make it a pilgrimage to eat that dish there.LOL!

Where is Matahari Grill?

I'll be in SG from Nov 29 till Dec 4, them I'm off to Australia, then back in SG from Dec 15 till 17.

I'be been to Baldwin St before. There used to be a Singapore rest call Sri Malaysia (I think, it's been a long while!) there.

Re: Hello from Toronto!

Honestly I can only relive the memories of Sam Woo in Mississauga......

Actually the spacers are for when I use the OEM 9.5" wide rims all around for a non staggered setup for my track tires.
The tires rub on extreme turns with the 2.5 degree negaqtive camber that I have on the front.

I usually leave the spacers on when I put back the SSR rims so that they are offset more to the edge of the fender.
It makes the car look better too.

Re: Hello from Toronto!

Cool
But u didnt really answer the question. Or perhaps you havent tried putting on the SSR wheels w/o the spacers before to see if they clear the calipers?

They do clear the calipers.
Even the 17" RD rims clear the calipers.

The spacers are left on just to give the SSR rims a better looking offset.

Re: Hello from Toronto!
