Hello Everyone!

My first post here. Currently not driving a BMW but in serious consideration of one. Hope to learn more from the gurus in this forum.

Thank you Navi and ac323 for the warm welcome.

All of my heart and most of my mind says F06 640i, especially so after test drive. But there's a part of my mind which can't seem to ignore the F01 740i on promo now.

The F01 scores an advantage for having 5 usable seats (middle rear quite-usable) vs. the F06's 4 usable seats + 1 contortionist-sadist's idea of root chakra-freezing heaven.

But the F06 speaks to me more, being the newer model coupled with its sleek profile and hand-bitingly good looks. Plus it drives sublimely.

Pricing is around the same region for both, plus-minus a few K.

Thoughts?

F06 for me....

Welcome Max Revson :wavey:

I opt for the 640 between both models stated. Again, just personal preference.

Re: Hello Everyone!

yeah.... F06 FTW.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the input. The big question now is AD or PI? I've been logged on since noon today, and research thus far hasn't been very kind to the AD.

what are the differences in spec or pricing etc?

* OMV???

Re: Hello Everyone!

Fair bit of difference in pricing (per ex-stock). A PI F06 goes for about 50K less than its AD counterpart. That's quite a chunk of change by most metrics.

Specs-wise, looks like the AD's F06s are better specced out of the box with options like 4-zone climate control and adaptive drive. And more exterior/interior colour combinations ex-stock.

I've read that quite a number of the options can be retrofitted locally by EleBest. So that basically narrows the spec gap between AD and PI.

Given a lower OMV translates to a lower OTR price, I don't mind going that route, especially since the savings can be used toward options-retrofitting. AD's cars average 82K (non M-Sport). Neglected to check PI cars' OMV.

Given that levels the playing field between the two (more or less), it then comes down to aftersales service. I'm still in the midst of researching that on the forum now but personal experiences are more then welcome and appreciated.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Hi Max, welcome aboard. If you get AD, make sure it's a reliable one with good workshop. Some options you might be able to live without, and the extra cash will allow you to get other stuff like big brake kits etc.

Do you mean AD or PI? I'm a little confused.

Alternately u can go auto bavaria, they dun need adoption fee. So your child is treated like ft.

Came across this during my research. Does this still hold true for PI cars? If so, this may be viable since I would be driving up north quite frequently and there's a BMW dealership very near where I go to in Malaysia.

Edit: Just found this, I'm feeling hopeful...

Read the enclosed article from Aug'11 edition of BMW car
(What a shame......:shakehea::shakehea::shakehea:)

Can't our local AD do better than "adoption fee" formula?

At least there is hope with BMW KL, this is potentially good news for all PI owners

great find...... My dad sold his M3 away because he bought it from a PI and he couldn't get them to solve his rear differential noise issue.... what a waste.

Re: Hello Everyone!

From experience, I sold my PI car and just recently bought another AD car due some problem cannot be resolved by PI. Seriously, I learnt my lesson now - no more PI.
