Hi all

Nick's iceman. Love ICE, and never have enuff moolah to fulfil my fantasies.

Just collected my E46 last night, old car, 2001 year coupe, steptronic.

Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Question, car's done 74,000km, been serviced at PML 4 times in its life, and last service was done at 70,000km, which is inspection II.

How can I approach PML to give me the full printout on the car's history of repairs and servicing complaints?

And how should I start flushing the gearbox? Where to do it, and wat is the best ATF to use.

Hi Iceman, welcome to the family.

I am positive that PML would have kept the service records of their jobs on hard drive (in case of legality arising from product liability). Just get them to extract the records.

As for the gearbox flush, you might just wanna do it at one of the workshops on our list.

Hello ICEMAN,

Are you happy with your 325CIA ?? I look for a 325FBI model to compliment your ride ok !!

tot I told you that since now that you are the legal owner...PML can give you a full history cum FR on your car. Rmemeber to MMS me pretty salesger you see ok....better still...meet you for lunch there....go to Ikea for lunch and back to PML for free coffee !! :p

Ok, one day we will do just that! But I dunno whether they will reveal the history like that or not. What if they say its confidential info that belongs to ex owner.

Anyone tried getting this history before?

No such thing bro. I got my BMW used as well. Juz gotto give them a copy of the log card showing u are the new owner and then u are entitled to ask for info. I didn't go to the extent of asking them to print the history though. Juz asked when was last servicing, any majors done in past etc. Once they have your particulars, they can then send u their regular magazines, flyers etc.

Alright, that's nice. Thanks! So you mean it'll just be verbal info then.

I remember Tan Chong actually giving me the history when I bought over a S14 200SX.

Hey Buddy,

Congrats on your ride. Maybe can show it off at Sepang on the 1st of April? Either way, make sure you do your ice swee swee for us to drool ok.

Cheers
Jason

__iceman__,

Hi there, congrats on ur new ride.....

like the rest said, it's possible to get the history of the car as long as u can prove that u r the rightful owner.

as for the ATF flush, i suggest u check with PML again before comitting on any workshop outside. The last i know was that the total cost from PML is just under $300 and that includes parts and oil, incl the filter within the gearbox, which a lot of workshop outside don change.

Changing ATF oil w/o filter is like changing engine oil w/o changing filter. the strainer inside the gearbox will accumulate the particles and over time., will get choked up and oil will bypass the filter. so if oil is changed w/o changing filter, the deris will just get circulated in the gearbox, which defeat the purpose of changing oil in the first place..
