Any SA that says jerks before stop is normal is a jerk himself.....My car has the same problem but go away after paying PML for reprogramming...

Dont be too happy yet....the jerk symptom is caused by the valvebody or the mechatronics unit not functioning well. Sometime it can be resolved/reduced by reprogramming others may need a replacement of that unit that cost > 3K on parts alone...

U better pray if the warranty is over..thats why I keep saying ZF make nice shifting gearbox that doesnt last....

Hi guys,

i am 3 weeks into driving my used 2008 Pre-FL 320i, mileage at 26K.
Today, I went into Service Centre to asked about my jerk-stop problem.

The tester asked me if this bmw is my first, i said yes.
He took over the wheels, tried a few stops, all with jerk motion.
He went on to imply that this is simply "BMW-ish", different from Japanese cars smooth braking.
In other words, i have to live with it.

Half-convinced, I requested a test drive of another unit. He let me test a year old 318i.
Yes, same jerk-stop.
I shook his hand, and left heart-sank.

Please guys, tell me this is NOT a BMW thing

...wah lau eh......

How can it be a BMW thing? U can try my 8 yr old E39 & there is no jerk at all.

Yes tried that but no effect. The above-mentioned reset is transmission reset. I suppose resetting the EGS adaptations is a different thing.

worked for me, but i dunno if it's my mind making that shit up. i didn't have bad jerks to start with

is there no way to reset EGS adaptations w/o using a computer?

at bmw now...the tester tested ride, stop with jerks
but tester said it's normal brake biting effect, all bmw is like dat one.

asked them to clear egs adaptation anyways...

Smart to insist on it.
My tester also tell me same crap. But after I insisted and they don't know do what to my car, it's smooth as baby's skin. No more jerking in SD mode from 3rd to 2nd and then to 1st gear when stopping.

I have had my e60 valvebody replaced and its still a jerk. Resent in again 2 more times, still a jerk. (Not PML)
Apparently even the valvebody's are recon. I believe the recon's are no good either.
I have learnt to live with it..... sad but true.

But if yours is under warranty, dont live with it. You paid good money for it, do not expect anything less cos a Jap will not jerk u! This marque should not be sub-standard.
