If anyone's interested, i have found a source for my 318is Strut bar.
Source is from Japan. brand is by GURT

price? so far, the price i have for the bar is ¥29,400 for the bar and shipping is ¥5,250, which makes a total of ¥34,650 (or roughly, SGD$445) , maybe if we buy more , we can try to share the shipping charges.

There might be some charges in wiring the $$$ to their bank in Japan though. Will let you all know the final charges when i close the group buy. Will need you all to transfer me the $$$ before i close the deal.

So jus tryin to see if anyone else in interested in the bar besides me. I'm not earning $$ frum this, just wanna share with others who might be interested. If not, i'll just ship one in for myself. thanks.

eh louis, sidetrack a bit...

have you considered strong strut or vorshlag? for the price of the stuff from the japs, you can get damn good stuff from the US or UK. both of them look damn good and are functional at the same time.

but you may have done some background research and found that these ones are lighter, better designed, etc. in which case go for it!

nah, i tried the "northern bar" b4.... had to give them back and get refund cos my bonnet cannot close with their bar installed

correct me if I'm wrong but hinged bars provide very little improvement to the chasis.

depends on how the bars are hinged.

if you're looking to prevent up and down movement, strut bars won't work.

but if you're looking to prevent lateral movement, they should be adequate for street driving, and the occasional trackday.

there are those for show, and those for function. the alutec ones are quite good, light too...

ok I just read up a bit on the net. what jinooi said is correct, and there's no such thing as up and down movement when cornering hard. The movement that is being prevented is lateral movement to prevent the camber from going too positive.
