i knows little about the mechanics of car and will definitely need advices from the bros here
for a start, i have been reading some topics in this forum on connecting the ipod to the idrive.
i understand there is an aux input in the glove compartment. what do i need to
1) connect my ipod to the aux and song controls via the ipod?
2) connect my ipod to the aux and song controls via the idrive?

actually, I am unable to visualize how this Y cable works. I reckon i have to wait for my ride to see how the aux connector looks like first.
