Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

Hi,

I just changed my tyres to the Goodyear Eagle F1 (225/45R17) after reading some good comments in this forum. I asked for the model GSD03 but realised after the tyres were fitted that there is no indication on the tyres if it's GSD03. Is there a way to tell?

Must say that I'm pretty happy with the tyres so far in terms of low noise level and comfort though there's a bit of squeal when I turn hard. Yet to really test it on wet roads.

Thanks in advance.

7 May 05 UPDATE - I found the GS-D3 mark. see picture and post further down this thread.

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

Hey! may i know where u got them? and how much? if not comfy, u can PM me! cheers!

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

There's no doubt about Eagle F1 tyres. They are good in both dry and wet road condition, but the noise level will increase when you have run in the tyres...Somehow or rather, people who chooses Eagle F1 are people who knows how to appreciate good road grip and performance.

Thumpsup!!!

Cheers.

Hi Azrielsc,

I got them from Hurry, which is on Bukit Timah Rd, just next to Serene Centre. Their address and contact is on the "Workshop" listing in this forum. The service there is one of the best I've ever got from a tyre shop. The service was quick (guess they are not called Hurry for nothing, :) ). Unlike some places where they work on one tyre at a time, this place took out all four tyres at one go! They have enough staff and equipment too. The owner was friendly.

I paid $210 for each tyre.

O, the tyres are comfy alright. I suppose it's partly because they are new (changed them about two weeks ago). I was initially worried about using such low profile tyres because of the ride and noise. So far so good. I will know better how the tyres hold out after a year or two.

On my e39 which I have since sold, I have been using the Pirelli P6000 (225/55R16). The tyres on that car when I sold it was still quiet and provided good performance at 2.5 yrs, although I did drive the car pretty hard. I kinda liked the P6000; I've stuck with it all these years; the model was stock for the e39 at one time. It's given good performance and did last at least 2+ years. Howver, getting the same brand/model for a 225/45R17 would have cost $300-$350 so I decided to try the Goodyear.

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

Hi Powertorque, I'm using Yoko AVS Sport on my E39 now, thinking of changing to F1 cos the noise level of AVS Sport at 30K is terrible, but I like the grip of it. Can you update me if the noise level increase after run in?? Anyone use F1 before and could tell me if F1 noisy around 25K (AVS Sport noise starts around 25K) millions thanks.

Sure thing. I'll post an update once I've run in the tyres.
Yes, would like to hear from anyone else who's run in their F1.....

Hi GriFFin,

You seem to be familiar with the F1. Wonder if you can help with the question in my first post i.e. where do i look for the "GSD3" on the tyre?

No prob dude...Had been a faithful user of Eagle F1. The matter of fact of differentiate of the GSD3 is no indications on tyres but by the look of the thread. Look at the attachment to see the different of the thread that original are from German and the other one are from Thailand.

Noise level of Eagle F1 is definately uncomparable to our dear Yoko AVS Sport. Tried a few brand myself before like the ES100, AdvanNova, and the old series something like 503.. Eagle F1 noise level is consider mid range to all those brand.

Sorry, I must have not been clear with my post. I have already fitted the F1. They are 17".

My question is how do i know if my tyres are GSD3? I don't see any indication on the tyres, except for the label "Eagle F1".

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

I am on Eagle F1 GS-D3 for more than 5 months. Still not 25K yet.... so far so good, excellent grip and gives me lots of confidence as I drive them hard.

At this price-performance, I dun mind changing the types at 25K if they r noisy. I figured if the grip gives up on me, the car repair and my life is probably worth a lot more than 4 tyres.

I used Pirelli P6000 perviously too and I like them. Now, I think I would prefer the Eagle F1 given it's value for $$$ and performance.

I got mine at Poh Heng Tyres at AMK. Mine is 225/55R16 at around $180/pc, I think (sorry... cannot remember, give or take $10).

Wow, thanks for the pics. Ok, so the pic on the left is German-made. My tyres have threads like the pic on the left and they are labelled "made in Germany". I heard about Thailand made ones so I specifically asked for German ones, thinking the latter is better. The threads look quite different; wonder if there's any difference in performance.

I must say that for me, the look of the F1 threads took some getting use to, after 8 yrs of using the P6000, LOL!

Ah, so no "GSD3" label on tyre huh? Just tell from the thread? OK thanks!

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

Hi Mav,

Good to hear that you find the performance of the F1 tyres favourable. That's reassuring.

Yeah, agree that in terms of price/performance, the F1 can be a good substitute for the P6000. The price for your tyres sounds about right. I've got a friend who got the 205/55R16 for $180 (or was it 205/60, can't remember).

When I was asking around previously, for my tyre size, some quoted me between $220 to $240/pc.... Lucky I keep asking....

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD03

Powertorque,

Thanks for the info! Will go to Ah Tan @ Hurry! I know him for years as all my tires and my dad's were from him :) No doubt about the quality service!

Now i wonder what's the price for 235/35/19s & 265/30/19s!! The prices that u got are about 2 - 2.5 times mine (mine's Pirelli Rossos). Will definitely go and see him soon as i'm now running on "semi-slicks"!! :(

Thanks again for your quick review! :)

Hi ! Mav.

I believed the original 16" tyre that come with the car is 225/50R16 ?

Any reason why you choose 225/55R16 ?

Thanks :)

I have tried both German and Thailand made F1. Both i could say is Super Grip!!!! But talking about noise level and the quality of the Thailand made F1, i guess it loses out to the German. Its more noisy and wear out faster. By one look at the thread, you'll be able to differentiate the Original made and Thail made.
