Hi,

Have been doing oil change using non-pml workshops, cost is abt $300+. Anyone knows how much PML charge for an oil change @ 50k km ? Thought of going back to pml for servicing.

tks

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

what car r u driving. 3 series1st servicing is $280 there abouts with oil change. if just oil change it will be much less.

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

Why would you want to go back to PML for an oil change? 1st they are more expensive. 2nd they take a damn long time to do something simple. And lastly, they can even do wrong things on what otherwise is simple things. I would strongly suggest to go to a competent BMW workshop like Boss or BVO for things like an oil change. Less wait, Less $$$ and Less :furious:

Hi, bro, i thou normally non-pml workshops cost u only low $200-ish or below $200. S$300+ is on high side, even higher than pml. cheers

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

I did my 1k and 2k oil change at KBS...if i remember correctly...abt $250 each max? oil + oil filter ... took abt 3 hrs..coz got lots of customers...pml will take you 1 day!!

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

Mine is a E60. I was just thinking if not much diff then i shld do this with pml - i still think pml shld be better, understand some may not agree.

if ur paying 300+ at the moment, i would say go back PML.

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

Tks for suggestions. I think I will chk around if there are cheaper workshops. I dislike PML's 3 day advance booking and a full day wait for a simple oil change n servicing.

tks folks

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

if only change oil + oil filter, make appointment for the 1-hour express servicing. this express servicing is only available at kampong arang service centre

1-hour can be easily gone with 20mins coffee + 20 mins shopping ppsl + 20mins surf net

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

Hi watermelon, may I know what e60 u are driving? Because 520 and M5 uses different amount of oil.
2nd, did ur current non-PML workshop add any other stuff into the bill of $300+?

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

i think he kana carrot by the workshop if it is just a simple oil change service.....

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

Yea....correctly guess, got "cut carrot" so got to look around for others. I like them because they can service the car during lunch time and within 1.5 hrs. No need to make prior booking, just call in the morning and go. The only downside is when they run of oil filter, it will take them another hour or so to get it delivered from another workshop. These workshop don't really specialize in bimmers but they do hv that "black box" which can check for errors and reset counters. The reset cost $50/- but seriously do i need to reset the counters since car is already out of warranty.

if there is this 1-hr quick service, i think this is good- they hv coffee and pastry and newspaper. Want to bring own oil (as some did) and just change oil.

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

since your car is already out of warranty, check out BOSS, J4C, KBS (same building) & BVO
call and make appointment. chop chop lolipop unless you don't wish to travel to sin ming

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

change oil cheapest is still pml because for example an e90, the labour + filter around sgd50.

u should buy ur own oil outside. mobil/amsoil around $15/bottle (one quart) so for e90, need 5 bottles.

book in advanced and let them know you need the car back urgently. should finish within 1.5 hours. i normally choose dunearn on a sat morning. drink coffee, read newspaper. time past very fast.

total damage only sgd125.

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

I did my E60 525 1-hour quick service at Kg Arang last month.

Change engine oil and filter; added dunno what Pheton (not sure of spelling) Additive; replace brake fuild (replace, not refill).

Total $302.

They normally push for a $99 ten-point check (visual check). I usually say no need.

In between 24K service at PML, i go to my usual wkshp at Ubi. Change oil and filter about $250 (almost same as PML).

So i use Ubi and PML, just so to keep relationship with both sides.

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

PML seems to charge reasonable for this 1hr service plan - they probably wont break even. Hence they need the 99-pts chk to up-sell, maybe?

Re: Going back to PML for oil change/ servicing

i did mine at Kg Arang 1 hour service as well. Was not asked if I needed a 10 point check.

Was happy with the service, esp since it was so efficient. From moment car was driven in, immediately was worked on
