gearbox problem on E60 520i

my gearbox light just came on a moment ago... i had been experiencing jerking for the past few months... anyone experienced this before?? i know one of the forumer here got it replaced under warranty.... but what exactly is the problem ? any experts can chime in?

is yr jerking from slow speed ard 40km/h? or from very low speed, suddenly u step? Sometimes i experience jolting too. its a common fault it seems, even affects 525 530, in the e60.net forum, they have some reports on this issue.

apparently the 6 spd is not suitable for 2.2l. (thats y they phrase it out) the prev e39 doesnt have such probs becos its a 5 spd.

Change it if under warranty, if not, lup in a 530 gearbox...

but how can the 2.2L destroys the gearbox...

whats the problem with this sucky gearbox anyway... PML said its common gearbox problem in the 520i

the gearing is too low for the 2.2l thus sometimes when u in the low rpm range, it feels weak. like when u in manual car in 4th gear and u wanna step hard.

It's inherent problem in the E60 520, exactly the words I heard from one of the senior persons at PML.

better get it check out...at pml soon when it is under warranty...gear box replacement are costly.

i experience jerking when in reverse gear sometimes.....but when i go pml, they ask me to simulate the problem, it seems ok again.........

could u simulate the problem to the engineers at pml?
