hiadees,

How often do u change the oil in the gearbox? My 335 is closing in at 57,000km. Some say must change every 50,000km to be safe?

Re: Gearbox oil

According to some really experienced mechanics from PML, they claimed BMW's auto-transmission fluid is manufactured to last throughout the entire duration of your car's life span. They also STRONGLY discourage me from changing my Auto transmission fluid even though my mileage stands at 117km... Basically, the actual quotation from one of them is : Boh Tai Chi Mai Chui Tai Chi Zou.

Re: Gearbox oil

Changed mine. What came out from the pan looks like Teh-C. The new oil looks like red wine. Maybe you should consider not just unpluging the hole at the pan - drop the pan altogether and change the filter and wash the magnets.

Gear changes much smoother. R2D says change at 40k intervals.

Maintenance is to prevent tai chee - why wait for tai chee to look for you.

I thought the guys in Germany changed their stand from lifetime to a certain mileage in some bulletin a few years back .............

But then again I might have read or intepret it by mistake ........

There has been a debate on this matter since eon ago. No conclusive evidence which is better.

Re: Gearbox oil

bro beng... i am leaving the ATF untouched... i have data since E36... but mine is only a 4 cylinder... our gearboxes are different, car performance very different from your 'sar sar gor'...

nonetheless, PML would not mind renewing ATF per manufacturers recommendation (more maintenance $$$, claim if spoil after renewing)... both ZF and GM have not... both said it is life time fill...

i would trust Rod to renew the ATF or the others like Juzz or BVO if i really want to change...

Re: Gearbox oil

ATF oil leasta lifetime? woow.:ehhh:

BMW used to say their engine oil can last up to 25,000km:liar:

ATF lifetime fill had been around for perhaps 15 years ago I think... I stand correct on this 15 years ago though...

BMW engine oil lasting 25000km had been around for about 5-6 years now I think... The E46s used to be this... This position had recently been changed after they had data, sludge was perhaps the main contributor...

According to PML is 80,000km but i think still depends on how hard we wack.....
so to play safe is 40,000km............
