What kind of problems is it facing now?

No major problem but just to plan ahead in the eventaulity whether it is economically to ratain the car with a repalced gear box or I should start scouting for a new car.

financially, it's usually (90% of the time) better to repair than to get a new car. But sometimes the heart overrules the head

For your gearbox, they are generally good for anything up to 150k to 200k km; cross the bridge when you come to it.
