Re: Fuel Regulator with SC?
It depends on the kit. If the kit supplies one, use that one.
Some kits supply new injectors but not FPR. The design means at standard 3.0 (45 psi) bar fuel pressure the injector(being bigger) will fuel more that is needed. If no injectors or FPRs are given, then the injectors will work a lot harder to pump more fuel in it. This is typical OK for 5 PSI is less. To get 6 psi onwards, you will need 4 bars or more fuel pressure which the stock FPR will not give. An adjustable FRP is the way to go.
I understand from tuners, that most engine parts can stress to 20% more without much ill effects. But getting power output from SC to the tune of 25% to 40% more than stock power definitely needs new FRP and injectors.
To me, if you wanted to SC, you should get at least 30% power, otherwise its not worth the money spent. 40% power gain should be the target. Thats what 7 PSI can give. I doubt that will stress the engine much, if the AF is correct most of the time. But if something goes wrong, your engine will blow!!!. Thats the risk with forced induction technology.
