Front tyre pressure can > Rear???

I met a buddy who drives a Jippun car. To my surprise his front tyre pressure is higher.

Front 250 kPA, Rear 240 kPA, non staggered. Can do this to E90 or not? Technically lets say I had my tyre pressure like this, and since BMW drives rear-wheel, the bigger footprint at the back will give it more grip and push., while the front is smaller and gives more precise steering control?

Ini Boleh tak?

Re: Front tyre pressure can > Rear???

you can .. why not .. you can try say front abt 35psi and rear 32-33psi.. see if that makes it better.. if yes.. then maybe u wanna try going abit lower.. just to see if it does make it even better.. i think mine is 35 front and 34 rear.. will try for 33 rear.. just have not had the time

19/235 all round...........

ABD,
Normally if u put higher pressure in the front, ur front steering will feel lighter but at the same time, u will induce more understeering. I am not sure what's your buddy was thinking...but I suspect he probably wants a lighter feel. Also if the car is really front heavy then it makes sense to have slightly higher pressure.

For your car, run same all around is fine, else a bit higher pressure on the rear is more desirable.

why shld rear always be higher?

Re: Front tyre pressure can > Rear???

Japanese car is FWD, and a lot more load on frt tyres.

RWD tends to have rear pressure higher to make the car understeer than oversteer

If u make the frt and rear pressure same and push the car into a corner, u will realise that the car is more balance but when it snap, it will be a oversteer.

BMW recommends frt lower than rear for a simple reason, understeer rather than oversteer, since former is easier to control than latter.

FWD car is different since the loading is different and should not be followed. Our car is near 50:50 also so it makes a lot more difference in this case here...
