Hi bros, sometime about 6months ago, my front n rear windscreen stops repelling water (rain/water beads up n flies off) like it used to when i first bought in the car. (2002 E46FL Sedan).
Repelling water is normal for BMWs and some higher end cars, as the glass is more highly polished fm factory, and thus repels water without need to apply any oil (glaco etc.) or glass polish (autoglym glass polish etc.)
My previous ride, E36, could also easily repel the water, except when dirty. A quick wash with car shampoo easily brings the glass back to waterproof state.
However with my current E46, i tried to wash hard, even polish with autoglym glass polish (in case i got grime on it), i could not restore the 'factory condition' of water repellance.
Anyone can advise or help? Do i need to change my front n rear windscreen? or is there some permanent solution to restore them to 'factory' condition?
(strange thing is only my front n rear windscreen are affected. my side windows are fine. i suspect seriously sometime in the past, maybe those petrol station 'windscreen cleaning' one joker used an oily/petrol stained rubber wipe over my glass,... so be careful, bros. DON'T EVER risk asking for the glass to be cleaned by the people @ petrol station)
Appreciate ANY kind advise.
Thanks in advance!
