FR on Bilstein Shocks B6/B8

Looking to replace my current shocks and looking at either the Bilstein B6 Sports or B8 Sprints.

I am currently using the MTech Spring that is lowered by 20mm. Anyone got any experience using them before and like to share, either the same setup or as a set that comes with Eibach springs ??

Thanks in Advance.....

:)

Hi Piggyboyz

If you are on lowered springs then you should go with B8 Sprints. Had them with OMP springs on my previous E30 and must say the ride is pretty firm (nice) but a tad harsh given the E30 chasis.

I don't think they come made as a set with Eibach springs, although you can pair them up separately. If I am not wrong this is quite a common combo for our cars and I don't think you can go wrong with this fairly economical option. With Eibachs it should be relatively more comfortable as from what I read Eibach springs tend to be 'softer'?

I have the B12 Tuning Kit on my E46 now which comes as an integral set of springs and shocks. You can have a look at a previous post I made :

http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/suspension-brake-tyres-rims-section/10489-e46-dropped-new-shoes.html

I opted for this as I think there is a reason why they are paired as a set, and at just over 1.1k they are really good value.

Hope this help and good luck!

Hi Ninja,

Thanks for the feedback. I am looking to change the shockes only, not intending to change my MTech Spring, like the current height setup.

Cheers....

Hi

You may want to consider FSD dampers that matches perfectly with your M Tech spring whereby you will experience 100% performance and comfort. Check out the website for more information at www.koni-fsd.com

Re: FR on Bilstein Shocks B6/B8

Alan, i think the FSD will be too soft for you, not kidding.. just a little FR on the koni FSD.. i drove my buddy's car which has it and i tell you .. it's the most comfortable ride you could ever imagine. I mean, i could fall fast asleep by just being the passenger, but the thing is that.. it's more towards sport comfort, meaning if u wanna have a little fun.. these are good enough for you .. but if ur thinking of taking serious bends at not so much of a sane speed i.e tracking or just wanting to test how big ur balls can be then these are just too soft. ANYONE lookig for comfort first, these are the shocks man... they give comfort yet with the little sporty feeling behind. Just my 2 cents on the FSD's. ;)

Wah, take my car as field report ah?

Anyway, what Shaaz says is true. You wanna feel the most comfortable lowered (1 finger front, 1/2 finger rear) E46 with 19" wheels, just sit in my car.

You want mega handling on the track/road, go coilovers but forgo comfort...

Re: FR on Bilstein Shocks B6/B8

Agree with Shaaz and CBS. FSD will not suit your need. I've driven it before and I find it too soft too.

Alan, I'm running on coilover with height and damper adjustment. Hard or soft also can. Give Ricky a call. Pretty good value for money. My current set is more comfy than my previous set but the different is a few click it stiffen up adequately. Anyway, now front is raised by 20mm and rear by 5mm. My side skirt falling apart liao.. no choice.
