Hi, I am considering to buy the 420 Gran Coupe now. It is the facelift model.

I hope any existing owner here can share your experience, does this model give any issue?

I used to drive a BMW in the past but not with any good experience.

Thank you for your sharing in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought technology has improve so much, things could have change. I do see so many BMWs on the road nowadays.

Thanks bro. I always believe in keeping the car well maintained.

I have been driving a Lexus and have been with them almost 15 years.

Problem free with best after sales service.

Thus, wondering has BMW improve over the years.

I think the 420 GC is the last batch before it is phase out, so most of the issue should be resolve by now.

Any owners here willing to share?

after sales service really depends on what level ( different owner different expectation i guess? )

so far for me all goes well....

All Bmws now should be B series engine.
from about 2 years ago. Especially after facelift or new model after 2 years ago.

ask the owner and check before you buy
The N20 and n13 series engine were before the b48 b58 engines today, and are known to have more issues like oil Leaks.
Improvements made in the b series engines now. More power more efficient.

b38 3 cylinder up to 1.5 cc
B48 4 cylinder 2000 cc
B58 6 cylinder 3000 cc
All turno

When the n series engines was launched
There were oil leaks for the oil filter, valve cover, PCV gasket issues and oil sump issues.
mould leak issues were all related more to the rubber seals than really and engine issues.

added to this were
fuel pump issues
Fuel injectors
Turbo waste gates
Vacuum pump gasket
And weak plastic intake pipes which cracked.

Not really engine issues but the ancillary rubber bits that matter that take maintenance after 4-5 years or like after 50000km typically.

I am think Bmw has made improvements to pump and injectors etc.
but the rubber bits and gaskets may still remain issues due to heat and the nature of today’s rubber materials, which may not change and maintenance needed as normal.

That is really a Long list, 50k mileage is very short to start having issues.
