Can any e46 318i owners tells me wats the fc comsumption is like for your ride?
Im monitoring now and i knoe when I have pumped full tank and when it ltouches the 3 quater tank mark,my mileage hits 150km and comes to half tank mark it was about near to 300km.and to quater tank mark its about 400km.
So do you guys feels that its comsumption is high or normal?,please share your advises.and if is.pls advise wat to do with it for improvement of FC?
Im running on 17" rim with michelin PS2 rubbers and travelled most of the time about 80%highway and everyday have to wait for my wife with engine on for about 10 to 20 minutes.
Waiting for your precious advise.thanks

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

Do you heavy-foot when you drive? Mine is almost same as your, that is 80% on expressway and hit about 430km when quarter tank left............But, I'm on 18" wheel, sebring exhaust, sprint-booster, ignition upgrade. In that case, I will think should have higher fc than yours, bro.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

thats brilliant if you ask me. I barely get 350 from a tank, hahah.

improving it is difficult as we have so much stop start traffic, one thing is though, dont leave your car running whilst waiting for wifey

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

if you want to know your exact FC in realtime, go get the OBC stalk from milk15 and get it installed.

and no, your FC is quite normal. every quarter tank will give you about 150km.

and if you wanna improve FC, try switching off your engine when waiting for your wife. will save you petrol, and even your life (remote danger of CO poisoning).

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

I dont think Im heavy footed la.
Ignition upgrade,Insulation filter box ,spark plug all already done up.
So I should guess our 318i can only fetch 8 or 8 point something km per litre, right?

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

change your O2 sensor, im going to do that as well

I did it on my car back in AUS and gained another 100k's per tank!!

you kidding me!!! :screwedu:

several possibilities:-
1. you have the feet of an elephant :lol2:
2. your tank has been modified :lol2:
3. some monster lurking under the hood :yummie:
4. your other nick is kimi :juggle:

so which one is it? :nehnehhh:

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

im not kidding, i rarely get 400.

its rodney's fault.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

Will O2 sensor helps ,phil?
Wat is the job for the o2 sensor?
And wats the damage?
Dont mind to change it if its really helps and provided its affordable and dont blame bro rodney la.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

danny, your FC is normal. do not need to change the O2 sensor.

spend the money somewhere else, cos you will not be able to improve FC anymore. it's already optimum.

just my 2 cents worth.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

it will help, you should change it every say 100,000k anyway. But in Singapore, we start/stop alot, so should change more often. It measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust and alters your fuel to suit. So if it is spoilt, the ECU thinks it needs more furl to pump in the engine, Sort of liek that

I have no clue how much they cost. They are under $100 bucks in AUS, but here, who knows

I will ask my mechanic kaki on saturday

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

about 180-190km when touching 3/4 mark.

pretty good considering am quite heavy footed on a very stock car.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

Ok phil,advise accepted,thanks
My friend's mark X can fetch 10km/liter and further more its 2.5 liter's and powerful car.
So admiring, should have bought that X instead of this bimmer.:( :( :(

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

pretty sure cos i been going to JB quite often past 2 weeks and so have to be anal about the 3/4 tank rule. (i reset e meter when tank is topped up fully, hmm come to think of it...i think its cos i 'overpump'...haha so the extra litres contribute to the extra 30-50km)

i pump SPC 98 or BP 97 in JB, sometimes vPower in SG or JB.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

Danny, you crazy ah? MArk X more power, can pull the weight easier

why you care about maybe using an extra 3 litres of petrol?

Just noticed you stay in woodlands too, ai race mai?

have test-driven the X before [yes, i'm a car slut] but somehow feel that both are different.

the X is built more for comfort and cruising. but the bimmer can raise hell when you want it to.

mebbe you can try to install the OBC stalk. will help you monitor your FC in realtime.

also depends a lot on the way you drive.

the best i've ever gotten is 9.8L / 100km, so that matches your friend's X.

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

So bro pilotsnoopy.
May I know wat you will get when its touches the quater tank mark?
wat have you done to your car? care to share? and maybe bro phil will strip all his mod and save on the change of his o2 sensor to gain more mileage.:yummie: :yummie:

danny - see? pilot's FC is quite comparable to your leh... so nothing wrong with your FC. just have to switch off the engine if you are going to be stationary for more than 5 minutes. confirm FC will improve!

Re: FC comsumption for e46 318i

nothing done to car except CCFL...so shouldnt be affecting FC.

perhaps its e way i drive, tend to average 100km/h on the highway...refuse to adhere to 90km/h unless there is a speed cam or the Garmin Nuvi warns me about possible police ambush...cos I believe 100km/h is the optimum speed for the car's FC.

also most stretches of road i drive through...the traffic lights are pretty smart if you travel at a constant speed...lucky not to meet some road hogger...

it stretches...
