After close to 20k mileage, i don't have any problems with the engine or gearbox so far if that's what you're intending to find out.
The 8 speed Zf gearbox is a proven technology with a lot of other automobile brands using it (Chrysler, VW/ Audi, Bently etc). More fuel efficient and extremely smooth on the gear transitions.
The N20 engine does its job well but the sound is nowhere as alluring as the inline 6. Heard that there's a recall elsewhere due to design issues of the vacuum pump oil supply and some engines overheating .... You could find out more about it via google also.

Was testing the 320d with M Sports fitting including the 18" staggered rims, 225/45 front and 255/40 rear, surprised that the torque pull the car away fast, acceleration is good! FC very good with meter showing 7.4 l/100km, engine sound a little noisy but still bearable. Spotted another 520d yesterday. So diesel is finally here!

Typically Diesel will provide more torque than the petrol version. However, be mindful that if you go to MY too often you might want to consider the petrol version instead, as MY Diesel I was told is 2 grade below the Singapore's Diesel. If you pump MY Diesel too often, you will face problem on your engine.

Malaysia diesel is euro 2 and not as refined as Singapore's. However, Malaysia diesel car don't have any problem because they have their DPF (diesel particle filter) removed. So far all Malaysia diesel car still running strong.

For me is diff case. Mileage 28k km... my car starts to jerk when engine is cold. When release abit of brake frm stationary n let it roll forward it wil jerk n feels like engine going to stall. Bt after ard 10mins the car feels normal as usual.

Engine oil leak seems to be a common problem of BMW 3 series, that is my personal encountered on E90 and E92...
