Looks like the engine will be a straight 4 turbo-charged. Sorry to straight 6 lovers.

Wouldn't make any difference to most since inline 4 are already used in 320s and 318s. May be better deal now with TC. However, hope they are keeping the inline 6 for some range since that's their signature.

u ask AC323 be your passenger, confirmed got vroom vroom sound.

The latest E250 1.8L 4cyl turbo produce more torque/hp than a F10 523 2.5L but power delivery is far from smooth...Lets see how good is the BMW's 4 cyl turbo.

personally prefer a high rpm NA engine as the throttle response is more linear.
maybe i shld try a turbo car to see if i'll be a convert. the lower cc higher torque/power is quite alluring. equates to lower costs and lower emissions (for the green conscious)

Personally, I find the E250 engine to be rough. CMI when compared to the NA straight 6 of 523.

Dunno abt the actual mechanics but i think the more cylinders would make a smoother ride and acceleration for the same engine capacity. Eg maybe a 4 cylinder 2.5l engine against a 6 cylinder 2.5l engine.
