I have hot air coming out of the air-con vent for about 5-10 seconds when the car just started.
SE told me this is normal for a F10. But, I asked whether it happened to other BMW models, she said no.
Have anyone fix this problem with PML?

I have an '09 production E82 and I experience the same 3-5s of hot air even though I did not opt for climate control (can't stand those stupid things). The problem lies with the position of the aircon filter box and its associated pipings.
BMW engines run hot. Even when shut down, they continue to emanate heat. This heated air rises to the highest part of the bonnet where the aircon filter box sits. It heats up the air in the box and piping as well, especially if you left the aircon on recirculation mode. You won't get this hot air blast if you leave the car untouched overnight or in the carpark for 6 hours or more, but if you just stopped for lunch and gets back into the car again, be prepared for hairdryer time.

You mean you do not see this problem as a design flaw because you mentioned it is normal?
I am not trained in automotive engineering. From a layman's point of view, I am just comparing 2 cars say Lexus and BMW. I do not get hot air from my Lexus IS250. There must be a way to overcome this issue. I always feel there is a solution to every problem. I guess I have a demanding personality that's why. But, human beings have managed to invent or improve countless technologies...

Hence everytime i start engine, i have to press recirculate within cabin "on" so that i do not smell the fumes from traffic.
